ACCORDING TO the Poser Manual, POST Effects are used ONLY with SuperFLY. I am NOT using SuperFLY, just FireFly. And POST Effects ARE BEING APPLIED AND I CANNOT STOP IT!!!!

Aha... first catch. don't check "Render in a separate process" if you intend to use superfly/gpu

I cannot relax on it doing POST editing at all. The renders are ALL totally out of whack with blown out lighting. That alone makes this unusable. PERIOD. I have found NOTHING that makes it stop other than not render anything at all. When the render is done, I see it for less than a second and the damned POST FX thing takes it and screws it all up.

I've remarked that, as it's still a pre-release, you may have to launch the PostFX thingie, change twice the settings (checkmark, sliders), and then save to "Scene settings" and to "Recent Renders" to stop this from interacting with each render.

@McGrandpa And in the render settings? Did you try to tick and untick the PostFX? As you well are aware this is still a beta with things still to fix. It's not a final release. If you find any issues then please report those to Bondware.
"Dream like you'll live forever. Live like you'll die tomorrow."
Yeah I did Ghostman. I am aware it is a "Yah We Idiots are paying you so I can be a guinea pig!" early release. When I said it isn't quite as bad as P8 was on release day I wasn't kidding one bit. This POST FX thing isn't its only issue. Just the worst immediate one. And as I am using FireFly why is it even doing it! Its supposed to be superfly only!

@ Y-Phil, ghostman ; working on other settings that should NOT affect that but might be. Got a single V4 Mick rendered using 'render over current bg shader' and it didn't activate that POST thing. It did both of these without hooking POST. I am leery of clicking that symbol in the render screen, that might be what sticks it on.

I'm annoyed about Python scripts, but I've already vented about that in another thread. (Where did all of my P11 scripts go?) However, the Superfly render engine looks like it IS an improvement over the previous version, except for the fact that it shows the seams in the character mesh . . . I'll post about that, separately.
I got flustered, and with no answers to this issue I did the Last Resort: Uninstall/Reinstall. And now its rendering in FF and SuperFly both, and I have not touched that scary little button in the Render screen! I dunno, maybe my cat rolled on the keyboard in some way that affected the program. I want to add, P12 has yet to crash no matter what I did to it. Solid as a rock. Which is very cool :o)

McG.
Ok, have tried all your suggestions folks, and I appreciate all of them. Nothing helped, P12 wasn't responding where it came to THAT issue. And as I mentioned, ALL renders of any kind regardless of engine used or settings selected this one POST effect was being ran and applied to every render. And it blew out the image with brightness. So, unable to stop that, I did the good ol UNinstall/REinstall of the software. That did the trick, that worked. I can now get renders as expected from both FireFly and SuperFly, I can use POST Effects in SuperFly fine and they only apply as expected for THAT render. I now think my cat Mogwai was the cause of the problem. Well I can't think of anything else! THIS problem is now resolved.
We will be looking forward to PY scripts to be updated along the way. All in good time, and a huge thanks to all who are doing that!

I wonder if it could not be a setting saved in Poser's default scene: I've found in my preferredState.pz3, stored in Poser's roaming profile part. I don't know how to call this part, it's in each windows user profile: "%appdata%/poser/12"
The pz3 contains this near its end: postFX { useDenoise 1 exposure 1.000000 saturation 1.000000 }

Oh, ya, I just saw the last patch notes. I'm waiting, the bugs affecting me are next:
For no reason I can find, Poser 12 has turned that "post fx" appearing thing ON by itself, no warning. I suddenly see 'render pass 1 of 3' when it should be 1 of 2. And only if SSS is being used, correct? I have found nothing in the manual yet that explains this post render lighting change for FIREFLY. Well, it is doing the same thing in SuperFly too. Settings seem to show all effects are OFF. And it is still doing this.
The finished image does look like this. Then suddenly the "system" (P12 system?) takes over, cannot interrupt it without hitting RESET (shudder).
When THIS is completed, the Outer Limits returns control of the system to me.
Went to Poser Support site, created an account (again), and opened a new ticket for P12 and this issue.

So Far the ONE Positive thing 12 has over P8 IS: The Library works.
That's kind of why I'm here. I just installed Poser 12 yesterday, and I had a library pane that showed a La Femme folder and I managed to add my previously existing Poser content folder. It was there yesterday. Today it has a page that looks like a web browser window that didn't load a webpage right. It says "Failed to load URL http://127.0.0.1:11530/nonVirtualAssets/ContentLibrary-1.9.11/release-1.9.11/ContentLibrary/ContentLibrary.html with error ERR_ADDRESS_INVALID (-108)."
I don't know what's different between today and yesterday. When the Windows firewall thing popped up, I chose to allow network communication. That was yesterday and it was working after that, but not today. And I don't think any of the settings changed between yesterday and today. Also, I have been using DAZ Studio for some time and it's been years since I've had Poser installed, so I have about a million other issues and I don't know how many are because the software is a work in progress or how many are because I just don't know how it works.
Normally, Windows' firewall is allowing local network connections(127.0.0.1). Are you sure that you don't have a security suite that isn't a little too "protective"? Another point to investigate: is the Events Journal containing pertinent information for this problem?

If you click on the YELLOW Speech button in the upper right corner it will pop up a box with all the things Poser has been doing. In there should be something about why Poser did not find the library. You can also get this if you restart Poser to fast. That is if one instance is shutting down and you try to restart it again.

I'm going to jump in here with another issue- one I've been going over with Support for the last few days. Is anyone else aware of the fact that the ONLY way to access the content files is to allow the PROGRAM to install the content where IT wants? You can't download and install directly from the zip files like before. If you're like me and have an existing runtime set up the way you want it, Tough. You have to let the program install it's own runtime and THEN move everything to the runtime you want to to use. WASTE OF TIME AND EFFORT. Support says quote:
"The included Items are only available through the application. This is a designed limitation for the included content. You will need to use the option of install one, then move the files if you do not want to have the content in the Included Library.
You can opt to install all the items you would move to a specific Library then move those files all at one time, before proceeding to the next group of items.
I have put in a Feature Request to allow for additional options for the Library Installation from within the Poser Library, specifically for the included content."
That doesn't sound like the option I want.

Well I was all set to go on a big rant about how I've been working with computers for years and I know what I'm doing, and then I realized I had my VPN going and that was the culprit. After turning off the VPN, the product library pane is back to normal.
Great! Nevertheless, I wonder why the VPN is interacting with the IP address 127.0.0.1? Proxy setting?

How I understand you... The last time I used the defaults folders, it was at the time of Poser 7. It resulted not only in a real nightmare, but also in a cruel labyrinth... Lol. Nevertheless, I'm used to organize my runtimes the way I want, too. But I've got the feeling that with Poser 12's content, it should be somewhat relatively organized.

If you mean the content that comes with the Poser 12 program, I am of no help. I already had all that content from Poser 11 since it was an upgrade for me. However, the included content always worked best when it was installed into the original program directories as far as Poser 7. Otherwise I installed content into Poser 12 with the use of File --> Install from Zip Archive' and as long as you added the libraries beforehand, it installs perfectly into the library I choose. It does not restrict me into the current Poser 12 Download. Now with all that said, I disagree with how this is delivered; they may have thought this is a help for new users (I can totally see that), but taking away the option for users accustomed to moving this whichever way they want even with a new install as opposed to an upgrade? That I can see as restrictive.

You're saying there's not any really NEW content? Or very little?
I am saying as someone who has Poser 11 already, I saw no reason to mess with additional content install. I am not aware of brand new stuff that is drastically different that does not install with the base files. I mean, it actually reinstalled a new iteration of LaFemme automatically and uselessly, so... Is there a 'what is new CONTENT between Poser 11 and Poser 12' file somewhere?

I don't know. Last time there was any new content released for 11, it included outfits as well as full scenes- sets- ready to use.
If you go to PoserSoftware.com and click the downloads button you will find the link to Poser 11 files and if you go to that link you will find all the files have a date of 29 Oct 2020. So would be the latest files probably for both Poser 11 and 12.
The other way to do it is let Poser download the first set of content to the Included Runtime and copy that Runtime elsewhere and then install like you have in the past. Since each of the files you find at PoserSoftware.com is already "installed" you will have the same amount of work finding and moving each item no matter if you get the BIG Zip or let it be placed in the Included Runtime and then move that one.

As I pointed out in another thread, The post effects check box has a bug. You get post effects on a new file even though it is not checked. You have to toggle it on then off to turn it off.
Toggle?? How? Do that in the SuperFly settings, then go do render in FireFly? Trying that, but it's ON already by default, I guess. Good Golly! It worked! Have to close the settings page, then reopen it. Your suggestion is the ONLY thing I've tried that actually worked. After I get calmed down I will install build .276. And I only have one render done, best do some more to be sure I got it right. :)

DING DING DING DING !!!! And GHOSTSHIP wins the imaginary Cupie Doll! Evidently, from startup to startup and New Scene just make sure to UNcheck that box in the SuperFly settings tab, then you can go to FireFly and render without the POST FX being applied. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I have a question, can we get a tab in the Materials Room for the old "Simple View"? It has things in it that make it a lot easier than digging a hole through our monitors looking for the items. The NEW tab is sorta cool, but its usefulness is debatable as you got no idea what the texture already IS while in it. There are no longer the images to show us what is there we want to do something about. We need to SEE these things!

Another one pops up, while in use. In The Library, we need to be able to expand/shrink the width of the Runtimes roll down List box. Also, can you add drag n drop to the Runtimes NAMES in that list?

NO python works unless it came WITH P12 - that is a baaad booger, if not fixed very soon, refund. Especially since y'all refuse to allow Poser to directly load DAZ content (as in FIGURES!) Material Room - Assignment Tab is a rude joke so far. If it even works it is so vastly different from the familiar "Simple View" tab there is no figuring it out without the reference manual. Color - in the Pose Room "Main View" controls vanished, no clues where they went, and the very confused "Object Style" seems to be the only way to adjust the appearance at all. CONSTRUCT - needs removal until its adjustable again.
Am I actually TRYING to use this stuff, with a Figure, a Scene, and RENDERING? HELL YES !!
