I loved these things. They were the precurser of today's Legos. I tried to get my mother to buy me a can whenever we went to the store. And used to build things like rocketships and planes.
Yes I remember those, though I always preferred the Legos.

OK . . . Where's my chocolate?
I also had these - wish my Mom had not thrown them out while I was away at college.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Oh, please! I don't even want to tell you what my sister did to my first edition comics when I was twelve.
This needs to be on the list. Yes we used to throw these at each others head.

This doesn't really have anything to do with toys, per se, but Bagginsbill's last post about throwing lawn darts at people's heads reminded me of this story from my childhood.
I grew up in an area of Raleigh, NC called Walnut Terrace. I found some pictures of some of the buildings before they tore them down years ago. Remember those, and look at the roofs.
Well, when I was about 5 or 6 years old. Two of my favorite cartoons was Mighty Mouse and Underdog. I liked Superman too, but I don't remember him being in a cartoon at the time. Anyway, like any true little idiot at the time, I would imagine flying with a towel wrapped around my neck. But, and I didn't know this at the time, I couldn't actually fly. But, I thought, if I could just get enough height , I could jump off something and fly under my own power.
Now looking back at the pictures, all the apartments had a porch and all the porches had bannisters and handrails. I would climb up on top of them and jump. I got some distance, but still not high enough I thought. Back when I was a kid, those smaller roofs weren't there. They must have built them long after I moved away. Any, they were flat when I was a kid and filled with rocks. I actually used to climb up there sometimes. One time with a towel. And yes, I jumped. I was a kid though and really didn't hurt myself. But.. I mused.... if I could just get more height. and I looked up to the very top roof.
I know what you're thinking. Why ain't I dead? I could never figure out how to get on the very top roof.

I had many of those, or rather, the British version, Action Man. The Space capsule in the Brit version wasn't glow in the dark, though; it was a slightly metallic grey. The figure's head was slightly different from the US version, too. Most of the equipment and uniforms were the US types, although there were some unique to the UK.

So... I was the only mofo that ever owned one of these, then?
Never owned it, but I loved the show. The Bionic Woman too.

I still have my old GIJoes from the 70's I have the Mercury space capsule, jeep, Seawolf submarine, two 6 wheeled off road vehicles. One Joe with Kung-Fu grip and a beard, two clean shaven Joes and African-American Joe. Also have Steve Austin and his space suit and ship and Oscar Goldman. The later 70's Joes shifted away from the military theme to Adventure Team because nobody liked the Vietnam war.

Anyone have one of these?
I did, but I didn't know you couldn't take baths with them.
Funny thing, I always thought Star Trek was a rip off of Voyage, even though it was pitched as "Wagon Train to the stars".

Voyage to the bottom of the Sea, was one of Irwin Allen's Babies. But it pre-dated Star Trek. It was a rip-off of the Movie by the same name. Even had the same characters.
Yup, I know. I was a fan of 'em both as a kid. I thought Trek was basically the same show in space.
I had a model Seaview, not a kit, a complete model with a working light at the front. My cousin gave me the Voyage Annual one Christmas, too.

By the way, what on earth is the first pic you posted in this thread? I have absolutely no idea what it could be.

This was a girl's game, and I never understood it.
The theme from the commercial keeps playing in my head.
"Mystery Date, are you ready for your Mystery Date? Open the door for your Mystery Date."

That explains it. Never known that to be played here. :D

Saw a TV show on NetFlix the other day that had this toy on it. I remember the ad on this one.
I have that, never opened it because I was a baby when my uncle purchased it for me (I guess he already knew it would be worth something some day) that and all the figures still in their packages in Storage (never was a scifi or star trek fan more of a bicycle, skateboard, outside kid, so forgot I even had those) I almost gave it away 3 years back.

Indiana Jones was nearly killed by a Mystery Date! Tragically the poor monkey took one for the team :-( Bad Dates!
Verbosity: Profusely promulgating Graham's number epics of complete and utter verbiage by the metric monkey barrel.
If you like model railway stuff, check out Rod Stewart's (yes, that Rod Stewart) layout. It's awesome.

As rich as he is, and after 26 years, I'd have been severely disappointed in him if it wasn't awesome.
