Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 14 10:48 am)

Yep, same here. Is that it then? Is it over to Daz Studio or can the Poser world be saved still?
Meh. They're probably going to tell me to buy Poser 12. We'll see. I'd prefer a fix for their broken shit that I paid real money for.
Hmm, I think it's looking pretty bad for all of us users of pre 11 Poser. This is what Microsoft have put out about a Windows update that finally does for Flash. I've not looked into it further yet but it looks like unless you reinstall windows and tell it not to install the update there's no way back. Hopefully I'm wrong and there'll be a way around it.
Open your Poser.ini found in your settings normally in
AppData/Roaming/Poser Pro/ "Version of Poser"
Open the Poser.ini with Preferable Notepad ++ Free software. Activate in search Incremental search ! search for the line
LIBRARY_IS_AIR 0 and replace with LIBRARY_IS_AIR 1
LIBRARY_EMBEDDED_TYPE 0 and replace to LIBRARY_EMBEDDED_TYPE 1
the second might vary and makes no difference once you made the changes it will always drop to type 1 ... save your changes and your library will work again.
I wondered if others had experienced this as i knew the "clock was ticking" for Flash.
Certainly looks like a dead simple fix, but I'm hesitant to "edit" the .INI (for fear of making things worse) unless I I feel I can easily restore the "current" version. Can one 'copy" and "save" the .INI with added characters like "Poser.INI-Old" which can later be dropped if the registry edit seriously trashes Poser?
Sincerely,
Bill

Hi Bill, as someone has helped me I shall attempt to help you. It's a simple thing to do really so all you need to do is go to the 'AppData/Roaming/Poser Pro/ "Version of Poser"' folder as mentioned earlier in Windows Explorer and right click the Poser.ini file, choose Copy then right click again and choose Paste. This should make a backup of your Poser.ini file (Mine's called Poser - Copy.ini). This will be the backup of your existing .ini file. You can then edit the Poser.ini file itself. If anything goes wrong you can delete the Poser.ini file you edited and rename the copy back to the original name. Remember to make a copy again though before you edit it again.
Just to help in case you're not sure how to access AppData, here's a pic of a quick way to get there.
@Redfern
the Poser.Ini is in your Preferred folder setup so it in not really a main setting like you would find in the Poser Install root folder. It means that it is based on your Personal setup not on the basic Programming of Poser. changing the Values from 0>1 or via versa does not affect your system in any case, it is like a on off switch nothing else. turning on off the Air feature just is causing a reset and naturally disabling the docking witch is the main cause of the Flash Lock. Poser runs with Adobe Air.
but if you really fear changing the values manually for having a working Poser 10 and below you have the alternatives of using the XL extended Library or the Library Manager. If you do not have any of these and still do not want to turn the Poser.ini switches then you can use your common window browser and drag drop the figures models right into the Poser Main window this option also works like a charm with no need of any Poser library.
I have the same issue on Pro 2014 Mac. How is it that a company can reach into your computer and remove stuff like that?
Anyhow, I've been using Advanced Library Manager and it seems to work fine, plus I upgraded to Poser 11 a while back. I guess I dodged a bullet but appreciate the fixes posted on this forum.

This is exactly the issue of Companies building in Kill switches into Apps and Programms , Smith Micro, Bondware, Microsoft, Apple etc. there all the same control freaks. Happen already with the SM Bondware fusion, they hit that Kill switch and you have to play there little game.
So just Imagine what would happen if Microsoft or Apple would just say one day " Sorry we do not support our Programms any longer " turning off all licenses, shutting down all computers and the Internet with just a klick ! We live under a Diktator cyber world nothing else , and every company wants to dictate a little in there own way ! But all this is the way we want it, giving them the rights do add these features into apps and Hardware letting Companies control you.

Got the XL library manager in the marketplace. It works!!! Will take me a little getting used to but I will do it.
Is that still available? I just did a search in Marketplace for it and could not find it.
Edit: With a little more persistence, I think I found it.
@ kelchris3
You will still have to edit the Poser.ini file and switch the LIBRARY_IS_AIR and LIBRARY_EMBEDDED_TYPE it is essential even if you just put LIBRARY_IS_AIR to zero and use the basic non flash version! the reason is that if you wish to add a new Runtime Path into Poser you can only do it through the Poser Library and not through the XL library manager! there is no option to add a New runtime in these Optional Libraries. The only option you would have is to add a new path into the LibraryPrefs found at the same place as the Poser.ini , Beleive me it will be less trouble making a quick fix on the Poser.ini then having to add manually the lines for new runtimes into the LibraryPrefs.xml

go to the tab Scripts on top of the Bar .... you should have a Folder called Dimension3D in there you will find the XL_ ?your version klick on it .
alternative option to run the script when Poser will start !
How to Start Python Scripts together with Poser
If you want to run a Python script each time when Poser starts, you can do so from the fileposerStartup.py, which is located in RuntimePythonposerScripts. This is a Python script that isexecuted once while Poser is starting. To start a Python script from poserStartUp.py, add the following line to this file:poser.ExecFile(":Runtime:Python:poserScripts:script.py")The path may be an absolute path (use \ instead of as path separator in that case) or a relative pathstarting with :Runtime as in the example above. However, Poser may not yet be fully initialized when this start-up script runs, and some scripts mayfail because of this. In that case, you may start a script with a delay for a few seconds. In Poser 8and up, this can be done as follows .....

Well, my question was rhetorical but you’ve summed it up pretty well. Sometimes it takes a number of years before a consumer realizes how shabbily they’re being treated in general. Maybe there was some sort of rule that prevented Bondware from posting the fix that the community is now sharing. Maybe I missed it. Or maybe it’s “just business.”

Thanks. That worked. Although in poking around I get an error message for some of my DAZ content.
Just wanted to note that the mt edit to the .INI file did the trick!
True, it's an external application that will be "tucked behind" whenever one clicks upon the Poser workspace and I must click the new separate icon upon the taskbar to bring it "front" again, but one extra click is a small price to pay to have an accessible content library window again.
Sincerely,
Bill

Same here... I'm gonna look through this thread... My 11.3 works, but it's on a Win 10 laptop. My old eyes are too used to having 2 big monitors - Poser on one, and libraries on the other.
Question: Will the new Poser 12 work with Windoze 7?

I use Poser 13 and win 10
I'll have to give that fix a try, but I'll do it tomorrow.. Right now, I'm too burned out and frustrated to do much else than watch my DVDs of SW Clone Wars. At least I'll get to see Ahsoka cutting battle droids in half and looking really cute doing it. ?

The fix works for Poser Pro 2014. I noticed the library is in a separate window and doesn't seem to dock anymore. It's better than nothing so I'm not going to complain.
I can deal with that... My Libraries live on a second monitor anyway, so if it works tomorrow, I'll be a happy guy.

Does anybody have a solution for pose Pro 2012 ? The line "LIBRARY_EMBEDEDDED_TYPE 0 does not exist in the .ini file. is there an other line to modufy ?
Editing the .INI file worked for me, though I had to move the library to the second monitor since it keeps going behind the main Poser screen. But now every time I start the program I get this.
The certificate in question is for contentparadise.com. Anyone has any idea how to get rid of this prompt? :/
I get the certificate message too. It's something to do with content Paradise. I got rid of mine by setting the library to Embedded in the preferences but then the menu went white. I prefer the menu floating so I just click Yes. I'm not too hot on operating system stuff but if I find a way to stop it I'll post it here.

This would be rather complicated to remove ! you would need to search the Line Contentparadise and or Renderosity in the Poser.exe and change the links , most probably this will blast the exe after save if you are not experienced with such changes.
Hallo die Meldung kommt bei mir auch nach dem die Dateien umbenannt habe. Einfach auf ok klicken dann ist die Bibliothek da.

It doesn't work for me. Each time I change with Notepad LIBRARY_IS_AIR to 1 and open Poser 9, the program rewrites the .ini file and LIBRARY_IS_AIR is 0 again so the ex-flash window failure remains cold and dead... :(
CASETTE

"Poser isn't a SOFTWARE... it's a RELIGION!"
@Casette
once it is set to "0" it will reset it self every time from "1" back to zero in Poser 9 ! so to fix this issue make your change and set it as LIBRARY_IS_AIR 1 , after this step save, right click the Poser.ini, in Property change the value to write Protected, run poser and the library will work. Shut down Poser and take the hook off the write Protection of the Poser.ini now you can start Poser again and it will always load with Air.
you also might want to make sure that the Flash library "Dead version" is already floating and Not embedded in Poser 9 . as you do not have the text line in the Poser9 ini
I have 7 and 9 and unfortunately poser pro 12 from smith micro. My older versions work fine, but like others pro 12 doesn't work. I did go into the ini file but I didn't see a folder listed as 12 but found my "9" folder(C:UsersAppDataRoamingPoser Pro9) either way the ini didn't have the LIBRARY_EMBEDDED_TYPE 0....anyone have any ideas?
