Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
2019 16" MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz 8-core i9, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB, 32 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD, Poser 11.3.740, Poser Pro 2014, macOS Catalina.
Late 2014 Mac mini 2.8 GHz 2-core i5, Iniel Iris integrated graphics, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, Poser 11.3.740, Poser Pro 2014, macOS Sierra.
2020 13" MacBook Air, 8-core M1 Apple Silicon, 8-core GPU, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, macOS Big Sur. NOT running any Poser software at this time as I've only had it a few days. Will likely wait for Poser 12 to be out and stable before installing it. :)

Imac 2015, Poser 11.3 usual daily work, OS Mojave.. Photoshop CS6. MacBook 2009 El Capitan, used daily, Photoshop CS6.. Also: PowerMac G5 (2005) 2.7 GHz (non intel) Poser 7, in case iMac plays up, OS Tiger.. Phoptoshop CS2. PowerMac 7300 (1997) Poser 4, only used in emergencies - or the occasional rather dated game -, OS 8.6, Photoshop 6.
If it still works, it stays. I mention Photoshop because Adobe has been cancelling installations, maintaining they are pirated ... I have managed to keep mine going - but it won't run on any OS after Mojave. Though I hear good things about Apple's new M1 chips, I have run out of money - and the hardware I have will keep me going.
If I get stuck I'll fall back on the older machines.
All great fun.
Is there any news on the Mac version? Might just be me but I can't find anything recent.
My Mac details below...
LA
MacOS: Big Sur - Always latest version (currently 11.1)
Model Name: iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
Processor Name: 4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
Memory: 32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4GB
Thanks folks.
@LostAlien, still in beta testing. Progress is being made. More details are Uh, sure to be forthcoming in due course and the fullness of time, moving forward. ;-)
I hope that we'll hear if anyone using Poser 11 has a really old macOS, like 10.9.5 Mavericks.

I had Poser Pro 11.3 running on 10.10. I never upgraded my (now retired) 4,1 Mac Pro past that.
Specs: 4,1 2x 6 cores @ 2.93Ghz, 96Gb of Ram, RX 560 (4gb), 2x250gb SSD - Raid 0, 4x2TB in dual Raid 0 (1 - iTunes Library, 1 - 3d Assets).
It has shuffled off this mortal coil, and was replaced with a Ryzen system.
Realistically, at some point, you have to let go of old tech and software.
And I would tell every mac user that has an extensive 3d workflow - you need to plan to transition away from Mac - Timmy doesn't love you.
At home I run Poser 11 on an old MBP 15” Retina late 2013? - i7 2.8ghz? running Mojave, an old iMac 27” Retina 2014 (upgraded middle of the range model that time I think) running Catalina, a recent iMac 27” 2019 (top of the line model maxed out RAM etc., can’t recall details) also running Catalina.
I still mostly use the 2014 iMac and let the missus use the newer one for her heavy photoshop work.
Will be getting a new 15”/16” MBP running Apple Silicon when they get released.
Will upgrade to Poser 12 if they release an Apple Silicon version with Metal support.

Hi fellow mac-heads, I'm trying to get a handle on what range of hardware and macOS versions mac Poser users are dealing with.
Obviously, not everyone will be on the latest macOS 11.x Big Sur or an Apple Silicon CPU.
There don't seem to be many statistics available for what folks are using, so if you can reply here, that would be terrific!
To start with, I'm running both:
Mid-2011 27" iMac 12,2 32GB AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB, macOS 10.12.6 dual monitor, Poser 11.3.818, Poser Pro 2014, Poser Pro 2012 & Poser Pro 2010.
Late-2013 27" iMac 14,2 32GB NVidia GeForce GT 755 M 1GB, macOS 10.15.7 dual monitor, Poser 11.3.818.
I have two older macs as well, but they're basically door stops or webcam platforms at the moment, despite having been top of the line when purchased.
I'm sure there will be folks with ancient and venerable systems running early versions of Poser. There is absolutely no shame in doing so or admitting it :-) I've been using Poser since version 1 came out, and the only reason I have nothing installed prior to 2010 is due to hardware retirement and OS incompatibility.
While mac users are eagerly awaiting a full release of Poser 12, it may turn out that there will be some platforms that could potentially be orphaned, due to third party software component support requirements. I see other software applications that will no longer run on my older OS, since support for that has been End-Of-Lifed by necessary components (Qt 5 being a case in point). Such things happen, and mac users may be more aware of this than others, when new OS releases break software that has worked for a decade. We also see our hardware superseded and unable to run the latest and greatest from vendors we've grown to rely on.
