Ok, you got me interested. I started an abstract thread at Daz 3D and it took off. Maybe we can get people interested here too. I'm rendering a very slow one at the moment but I'll give this a try after it's done. Thanks for posting this. Very cool 'thingy'.
Actually @Burpee I have 3 Bryce abstracts in my Gallery here, though I haven't done any in quite a while. Hmmmm . . .

Had to try again. This one uses MatCreator's bacteria spore. Premium render was 11 hours and super fine was 12 so I went with regular, 1 hour. The black spots are from not enough max ray depth. I bumped it up to 9 and most of them disappeared. These are not really abstracts, should be called still-life.
Hey, cool renders! Nicely done!

Even after something like 20 years, I'm still learning things about Bryce. Learning should never end.

Sorry I realised I didn't comment on the other posts............. AgentSmith ..very nice toffee swirl ..lovely rich and smooth texture Burpee.. you have some nice textures on the objects i also like the twisted perspective of the obelisk reinforced by the material Glad the set up views helped.I find with abstracts its a bit like using Mandelbulb you have to go into the render and search about for interesting effects and views.I often like to use reflective surfaces and zoom into the reflections to get interesting patterns
HOLY COW...freaking awesome!

Still going for the imported mesh abstracts here. This is from Horo & David Brinnen's "Fifty Funky Shapes and Fifty Funky Metals". The object is "InterMobTorLoop2" with the "Anteroom_3840" HDRI. Water is a tweaked version of David's mat "Derwent Water".
