Larry F, hoping you can read this.

Takk for den hyggelige kommentaren. Alekssander, hope you can read this too. (Maybe get some help from your wife?)

They look good to me on a quick browse. Nice use of color, shadows, lighting and materials. What you might get the most benefits out of is posting them as works in progress here in the forum and asking for input before you post to the galleries. I've noticed that gallery images tend to either generate no comments, or "Wow! That's great!" comments - one is frustrating, the other is good for the ego, but doesn't do much for helpful input. Here in a forum like this, you'll tend to get more open commentary from your peers, or at least that's the way it works in bryce forum.

Hey, Alekssander, I agree completely with what Larry said! At least, I hope I do, LOL! Can't go wrong, listening to Larry. =) Now, if you would like a bit of critique, I do have to say that I agree with Ironbear about the lighting, which is pretty good, but I think you might want to look into the bump editor some.... I don't really feel particularly qualified to give people advice: I do my thing, everyone else does their own as they see fit. One thing though" if your work makes YOU happy, it probably IS good! It's very difficult to give overall opinions, because in the end, all you are most likely getting is someone else's thoughts on what maybe they wwould have done. For example, if someone like, say, Andy Warhol would have asked me what to do, he'd have died pretty broke...... And, Ironbear is right about another thing--- you will be more likely to get actual commentaries--- if that's what you want---- by posting pictures in the forum and asking specific questions... then you can take the answers you get, and maybe incorporate ideas into what you finally place in the gallery. But, don't trust us anyway...we're all crazy. =)

Alekssander, yes thank you too. And I can read it all. Have been learning norsk since I met my wife in 1984 and it's practically all we speak at home. Helps on those family visits too. Anyway, your pictures are very nice. VERY NICE! And that birthday card for Alizee, with whom I am not familiar, but my wife's niece in Oslo will send me a CD, is my favorite so far. You know, the comments by MikeJ and Ironbear are right about posting in the forum seeking critique as opposed to just in the galleries. Of course, you can purposely INVITE critique when posting in the gallery and there are folks willing to do so, but it seems to me that the people in a particular software forum have a more refined and shared interest and are more willing to help each other -- even when they say "Hey, I like your picture, BUT -- you could fix this or change that or --- well you see." Personally I find that extremely helpful because it provides definition and guidance. The last month or so I have had a lot more time to play with Vue except the past few days and so I've been reading all the posts in here, past and present. Lots of good information. Looking forward to that dolphin animation! Godt me deg! Vi sies. Larry F

True... plus, generally by the time I post in the gallery, I'm done - there's not much else I'm gonna do to that image unless I decide to completely rework it later. All the comments give me is feed back that I can incorporate into the next image - which, don't get me wrong, is highly valuable. On the very rare occassion I post a WIP, I usually do so in the forums for hints on what direction to take it. Exception is when I'm doing something for someone else, then I'll post it in the WIP gallery and send them a link so they can give me feedback on it after they see it.

Ironbar: Thanks. Well, I dont have anything against a little bit of wow commentries;) Dont get that often, but I agree that they arent much helpfull att all. The lights would have looked better, if it had been possible to create mist or haze, so that it was possible to see the lightbeams them self. Just as in a real studio or consert. MikeJ Sorry about the language;) One of the things I have learned so far, is to spend more time on the texture and the bumps. I just have to find out how its working first. lol. I was considering to put my head on the sacnner to get more realistic hear. lol. When I post my stuff, they are more or less finished up, at least for this time. I have then reached the limit of what my computer can do. Just like you, I would like to know more about what I can improve to the next project. And I got know idea about what to ask about. I think that one of my problems are, that I havent realy reached the right people. So far I have only met one guy that have actually reconized the objects. Because, all of the objects are real objects, keyboards, drums, and so on. Except the studio itself, that only exsist in my head. I guess that is one of the reasons why I havent got the response that I thought I would get. Larry F: Thanks: You are not the only one that likes those birthday card pictures. Except, you didnt tell me which one, and which version. I prefer the Java versions, since its make the picture more alive. The only problem, and maybe a good thing as well, is that I can never load or copy those to other sites, unless I can load up the java-scripts them self. But, I do load up works to the VdE gallery, and should reach the right people. See you later / Ser dere alle senere. Alekssander

Actually I looked at all of them and the delfin birthday card was my favorite. I THINK it was in either jpeg or bmp. Can't remember which, but I will go back again. You know, I think I've looked at more pictures (especially Vue) than anything else since I have had more time to use the program, although I must say that the work in any software is probably more dependent on the artist and what he or she brings to it than the software itself. F.eks, I love looking at work in Bryce, even though I never upgraded version 3 once I discovered Vue. I probably have made several hundred pictures with it in various stages of completion and just need to steel my nerves to upload a few more of them. I'll tell you one thing, Alekssander, I'm an old pen and ink man - (certainly old)-- drew black and white comics for years - but I've become completely infatuated with 3D graphics and find myself doing something I didn't do much of in those past years -- THINKING IN COLOR, which proves, at least to me, that there is never a dearth of new experience. Am I starting to ramble here? Ha det. Larry F

I agree on that it is much up to the artist, but there are huge differenties among the software. I make technical stuff, since Im horrible at making people. (Somebody that would want to cooperate?) Since I only have the V dE 2 free version, Im not even close to make the work that I got on my mind. I have never used Bryce, so Im not very familier with it. But I realy think that the limits in the cheaper software, makes it difficult to make the great work. I still cant bend a pipe. It maybe dont sound like much, but that is something that makes my head spin and create frustration. I could do that in the corel draw 7 3d thingy, except I cant used those in V dE. I know that other software can create haze and mist, so that its possible to see the lightbeams. Both studio1 and stage9 would have looked totaly different with lightbeams crisscrossing the rooms. Making it look more real. I created about 10000 raindrops in an attempt to make it work. The rendering : time left 7h30. I tried to use smoke. Every thing turned white. lol. Do I sound frustrated? I realy am! Just load up stuff. Nothing to be afraid of. Can it be worse then mine? ;) Ses sikkert senere Alekssander
