Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 02 11:49 pm)
The hair is cool BTW if anyone is using Cinema 4d Pauls sqaure tute works great in that...but to the point ....that face I love it its just so unposer, do you have it as a face pose and if so will you post it please, I think it reminds me of someone but there is just something about it :o).........Steve
There are four files with the same image. All of them are TGA. I have opened several in Painter 6 and Adobe PhotoDeluxe. There are no masks showing in either program. I have another image viewer program that shows different color backgrounds on the images, but it doesn't do masks. Thanks for any help you can give.
They open in PSP6 I understand (use your browser in PSP to select the one you want). Go to Selections and open with 'load from alpha channel'. You will get the mask-say okay and it will select the 'hair'. Copy it, paste as new layer over Poser person. Now Melanie, I need to find that tute you had for the Virtual Makeover 2--the one in the BLUE box (is this different than PURPLE box??). I can't even find any of the wigs in this version--I don't have the add on #1 box. Diane B
Viewers will not show you masks, since they cannot be manipulated in them. Now, when you open the file in PhotoDeluxe select the background solid colour (if it has some kind of magic wand select tool) and invert this selection. So now the hair is selected. I don't know if it will come out the same, as I get it already masked but you can try it and see if the edges come out alright. Otherwise, you'll have to have a look at the Paul Hafeli tutorial and make your own transparency map and use the files within Poser on the square.
And just to make all of this even more confusing, has anyone downloaded any of the newer files from the Cosmo site? Are they the same files and used the same? And is there more male stuff? Because the pink box that I have has maybe about 3-4. That's my next project, the Poser dude with real hair, poor guy.
Thanks for the help, but the background color is too close to the hair color for the magic wand to work. I already tried it. I could make my own mask, but that would be almost as much work as making the hair from scratch. I have a couple of other apps that I can load and try to see if they use TGA masks. Hopefully, I will get it to work.
Thanks again, everyone. micrografx rang a bell. I have their "complete publisher 99" that comes with PhotoMagic. I loaded that, and it opens the TGA files with the mask. with some fiddling, I can delete the background and save as a TIF with alpha channel that Painter will recognize. Now to get rendering.
