Subject: Snarly's scripts and Poser 12

AcePyx ( ) posted Fri, 06 August 2021 at 8:26 PM

Fantastic news Snarly! Thank you. Given Bondware's infuriating habit of forcing a full reinstall each time they patch the program, how will that affect my installed library on EZ Dome?

Also, there's a small bug on EZ Skin. If you load the script BEFORE loading a figure, the interface disappears and cannot be reloaded. When you try, it reports that it is already active.

In %appdata%\poser\12 you will find a folder: ezdome, which contains in fact 2 text files, the ones ezdome uses for its parameters.

You may save them, if you want. But I have never any of those files being overwritten by a new Poser install.

Hmm, wasn't able to replicate this, it still opened for me. Is anyone else able to test this out? I'm using a macOS 11.5 and Poser 12 on this end.

Poser scripts by Snarlygribbly

hborre ( ) posted Wed, 11 August 2021 at 9:26 PM

I'm not getting that. A hiccup I'm getting is a warning box when exiting the material setup for figures. Works fine after that. When I get the time, I will post a screencap.

Does anyone know if there's a way to get Snarlygribbly's Snow Machine working in Poser 12? Or is there an alternative that I can use to mimic its functions?

hborre ( ) posted Sat, 21 August 2021 at 8:12 PM

You'll get the same answer here as you did at the other thread. ATM, there haven't been any other converted releases of other scripts.

The explanations I remember of was that it was based on microfacets, something that isn't implemented with Superfly, but I may be wrong...

Just doing poser trial. I am a poser returnee from 15 yrs ago. I have been trying Daz Studio. OMG! I f***#×# hate it !!! Everything is more complicated. And it lags, is choppy and has locked up my pc more than once.. Poser is so much easier. And it doesn't take that long to render. I wound up here because I have purchased some big morph packs, hair, and some. Clothes. I want to keep up with the script to take genesis figures into poser. I read 2 pages of this thread and wanted to keep this marked.

Don't get too excited yet.  So far, EZSkin 3 and EZDome have been updated to work in P12.  But not all the addons for EZSkin3 work.

What about FireFly? I'm not using the Superfly renderer as I find it fairly flat and grainy............

Do you have Poser 11? Use Snowmachine there, then just render in Firefly.

Snarlygribbly ( ) posted Fri, 24 September 2021 at 3:51 AM

Hi folks,

I've just caught up with this thread, and would like to clarify one or two things.

First, I am very grateful for all the kind things that have been said :)

Secondly, I personally welcome the introduction of Python 3. While it has inevitably caused some problems, it also means that Poser is now set up properly for future developments. There wasn't really much choice in the matter anyway, and all our efforts would be best targeted at making the most of the new opportunities, rather than agonizing over the issues that it has caused.

Thirdly, while I can no longer spare very much time for Poser, it remains very special to me and i shall continue to support it as much as I can. Right now, that won't be very much, but I'll do what I can :)

Fourthly, Bondware did enter into discussions with me about how to ensure the ongoing availability of my scripts, and made a kind offer. It wouldn't be right to go into the details, but things didn't work out, and that was partly due to my decision not to accept any financial offers (this is a hobby for me, and money changes that in a way I don't want). Please just trust that Bondware are doing what they can :)

Finally, The Snow Machine can only work properly in Firefly at the moment due to the lack of micropoly displacement in Superfly. I have promised a couple of people that the Snow Machine will be the next thing I convert to Poser 12 though, and I'll do it as soon as I get a bit of free time. I'll see if I can do it this weekend (but no promises).

Love from Snarly :)

EZDOME

I'm hosting a Zoom meeting on Saturday, 2nd October @ 10pm UTC+1 (5pm New York time) for a few EZDome users.
It's mostly going to be an informal chat about how to get the most of the script, but it'll also be a fun chance to meet some of you.

If you want to join in, just send me a sitemail and if there's still enough room I'll send you an invite :)
I want to keep the meeting small and friendly, so there's only a few places available…

you can use Poser 11 and save the scene to Poser 12 and render it, snow machine only add  extra layers  to the scenes, that you can easily save to Poser 12. that is why i always have both Posers 11 and Poser Pro 12 on the same time to save me even more time xD

yeah, you can have both Posers  softwares on the same time  it believe it is  completely different  softwares , you move around on both , but can't  render on both at same time , they will bug out with black screen
