Subject: Question about Texture Converter

I'm converting the texture from Pretty Base 4 (Mytilus) to fit Genesis 3 female. It seems to have worked well, except that TC created a specular map that is an exact of the color map (color is the word TC uses for diffuse). Then I look in \Textures\Mytilus\ PrettyBaseIV, there is a specular map but the pz2 does not reference it.

The pseudo Specular map is loaded when I load the duf and the figure looks good in the viewport and renders about as well as I'd expect a 14 year old texture to render.

Specular maps are usually greyscale. How does using a color image affect it?

Is the best way to resolve this to add specular in poser and save a new pz2?

The channel that the map gets plugged into only reads greyscale; it would be a better option to use a greyscale texture that is easier to visually darken or lighten as needed.

The creator of that texture didn't know what they where doing so best to just use one by someone who did.
