Subject: Tentacle posing

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on posing tentacles without bending all the bones individually one by one or without using the given shapes or morphs that come with the tentacle?

Say if I wanted to wrap a tentacle around a pole, what would be an easy way to do that without messing with bones or morphs? Is there some drag and wrap technique or some kind of wrap technique with collisions???

I cannot provide a complete solution, but you should be able to drag the tentacle, yes.  Then, use collisions to help ensure that it wraps properly.  As for the wrapping itself, you ought to be able to do that by using the drag function from different perspectives in the scene.  This isn't a step by step procedure and might not work as I am not familiar with the rigging of tentacles, but I thought I'd try to help out anyway.

You could also select multiple bones and pose them at once, using the Parameters pane sliders or the Secondary Nodes option in Tool Settings with the Viewport gizmo.

Good suggestion.  I tend to use parameters myself when posing rather than dragging.  Nevertheless, I could see where dragging could be quicker in this case and then use parameters and collisions to perfect it.

Bone Doctor Pose Control by RiverSoft Art on the DAZ store includes an Adjust Bones script that is helpful for posing.  There is a Propagation Strength setting which you can set below 1, will help create a natural falloff and pose multiple bones interactively instead of one by one.  I used this to pose a string of Christmas lights to wrap around a tree.
