May not be entirely relevant to your problem but why Depth Mapped shadows? They're awful, not accurate and not advisable if you want things to look good.

After I'd posted, I'd remembered that some IDL set-ups - even with ray-traced shadows - can also generate artifacts which vary semi-randomly between frames and can be distracting in an animation. It's not the problem for you, but I'll leave this here in case someone else comes looking for an answer.

Hi gang! I'm running into an issue I've not experienced before. I'm rending animation in Poser Pro 2012 via the render queue. Each frame is 1920x1080 using the Firefly renderer.
I'm noticing as I scrub through the frames that there are shadow artifacts and "dancing" going on.
How do I fix this? All lights are not animated and set to depth map. Ambient occlusion is also on.
Any help or tips is appreciated.
