Subject: Name of files

I would like speak about a fault of Poser 11 (on Mac 10.13) and think there is the same fault on previous version.

Poser is very lazzy to find files. If the name is too simple ( pants.obj or metal.jpg for example) , it's going to use the first it finds. I think it is a bit  illiterate. It will give some awfull result. I have big libraries and I count about 50 different pants.obj and about 15 different metal.jpg. Whatever the path in the file  (figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:Agnes-Bricole-Dream:xxxxxxxxxxx )

I implore 3D-creators that they use more complex names : Bidule-metal.jpg or Truc-pants.obj. Adding some prefix. Or suffix

Anyway, I wish you a better new year than the previous !

This is a fault since the early beginning of Poser and not only on a Mac but also on each Windows version. So it's a general fault and especially a absolute programming greenhorn fault not to respect given pathname only using the filename. In one runtime this error is must nerving but having some runtimes in parallel it's becoming absolute time wasting to find out what is disturbing your render such horrible. And I have posted that error round ten years back to the hotline without finding some interest (or could it be knowledge ... ?). So this is truely not new to the developers and/or users. Let's hope for the future ...

@agnes: I share your frustration with the file-naming conventions used by some Poser developers. As a Mac user, I've resorted to a great freeware app -- EasyFind, by DEVONyechnologies -- which has proved a tremendous help. It shows you a list of all files on your volume that match your search key (e.g., "pants"), lets you see a preview with Quicklook, and shows the full path to where files are located. The list can be sorted according to file location (e.g., everything in your Poser runtime can be grouped together, so you can ignore other non-Poser "pants" items). You can reveal a particular item in the list in Finder. I just downloaded version 5.0.2 from https://www.devontechnologies.com/apps/freeware. It's virus-free, according to Avast.

IMHO, there's two related, persistent problems.

First, when eg an import prompts you for a texture file's location, it often hides start of sought name off the left of the dialogue box. You gotta go left until you reach start.

IIRC, this has been so since P4 !!

Second, there seems no way to show full name of a file in a 'Material node' by default. Field is too narrow. All you can see as-is is front half. Which is really, really annoying when textures have lonnng, meaningful names, or sufficient length that version number is hidden...
