Poser 12 F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 26 3:18 pm)
Welcome to the Poser Forums! Need help with these versions, advice on upgrading? Etc...you've arrived at the right place!

About the windows/tabs placement: Poser 12 stores some preferences in this folder: "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Poser\12"
You will find for example your render presets and memory dots in that folder. I "believe" you can delete its content (exit Poser first), then it will rebuild itself like new (but make a backup copy of that folder first just in case). It might help you as a last resort. I once deleted something there but don't remember exactly which one, it helped me because I did not have memory dots at the time.
As it happens, I used brute force and figured out the problem. It took a while, but I was right: Poser "remembered" the window in a place that is one pixel away from being inaccessible on the "wrong" monitor - the secondary rather than the primary. I dragged the window out and now we are back in business!
Again, it sure would help if Poser had a factory reset. It's too easy to drag some window into a bad place.
My friend, I will make sure I copy down your great advice! I solved my own problem this time after taking a long time to work it out for myself. Next time, I may not be so lucky. I will try it out and hopefully it will work as you say! That would be a big help indeed, and I thank you for looking in on my issue.

Poser has Launch to Factory State in 2 places when you click on Edit > General Preferences (Ctrl+K). The first is Launch Behavior on the Document tab, and the second is Launch Behavior on the Interface tab. Check them out, as I think you'll find them useful.Again, it sure would help if Poser had a factory reset. It's too easy to drag some window into a bad place.

OK . . . Where's my chocolate?
Once all your windows are where you want them to be, alt-click the dot to clear one place, click an empty one to store tue UI, click a used one to restore your UI.

I am having problems with the Poser 12 UI. The over-arching issue is that if I place a window is a bad location, Poser remembers that and I don't know how to restore things to factory defaults like you can in Photoshop, not without uninstalling and reinstalling. At least, I think this is the issue.
Here is what is happening: I've been using Ken1171's excellent MAT Edit script to overhaul my models. Only one day, it simply stopped working. What happens is that I use the menu to call up the script and absolutely nothing happens. I suspect that the script window is opening somewhere outside of my monitor window, if that makes sense. Sometimes I work with dual monitors, and my "work" monitor is a different resolution and refresh rate than my "play" monitor. I have the same problem with Photoshop, in that it's possible to leave windows open outside of the range of the monitor and if that location is remembered by the app, I can't access them until I open both monitors. I can also use Photoshop's factory default function to restore things.
I've contacted Ken1171 but I'm still stuck. I've tried reinstalling the MAT Edit script, but that doesn't change anything. I'd like to factory restore Poser 12 without redownloading everything as my Library is a complete mess and I'm sure I will lose stuff.
Mind you, I am only guessing at the cause of this problem. If you have any idea why MAT Edit won't come up, please let me know. I have some other payware scripts from Ken1171 and Wolfnom, and they all continue to function normally as do my freeware scripts. Just MAT Edit won't work, and that one is massively useful.
