Is this a known problem?

Selecting optix makes the trainers black/textureless. Both CPU and non-optix GPU keep the correct textures.

These are the trainers that came with the default content.

The patch notes appear to detail considerably less than your announcement mail. Is there a comprehensive changes list anywhere please Tim?

Trainers? default content? the only trainers I've found came with the EvoGirls.

They're called Fads Sneakers.

Quick check, is it OK to merge this latest content into my main runtime and allow it to overwrite the old La Femme etc.?

That's not a bug, at least not from a technical point of view, I find this a really huge sale bug: by default, those fads have material that is thought only for Firefly, as they have Amient _occlusion nodes, which are not supported by the RTX mode. I have an old RTX2080Ti and the effect is the same.

Most of the time I rebuilt the textures, especially for the skin and for the cloths.  Ghostship is selling fantastic Cycles-based materials, and they are a good start.
Another good start is to look at Rendo's tutorials: you have really simple material setups, involving the Physicalsurface node, for which you only need a diffuse map and a bump map for a good start.

As a proof: I've only deleted those nodes, and unchecked both options (red arrow, I'm using my scripts for these two operations)

You end up with a decent, RTX-mode enabled render:

If you're using Superfly, search&destroy any and all Ambient Occlusion nodes you find LMAO! They're buggy even without Optix - they're a workaround for non-indirect-lighting in Firefly.

Thanks for the tip, Afrodite. There's now a free Poser 12 script on ShareCG that removes all Bumps. It would be simple to change the node name that target AO disconnect instead, for those who find they need that.

And to the Poser 12 developers, a big congratulations on the public release.
