I don't know which character you are using, but, for example the Vic4's, you have to check the cornea, indeed and the eyesurface

Hello Y-Phil,
thanks for your reply. But this has nothing to do with characters or the light settings but is a general problem with transparency:
I also updated my drivers but this didn't change anything.
And as far as I remember I had the same problem for a long time mith my old Poser Pro 2014 and Windows 8 (with the same hardware, however).
By the way, has anyone a recommendation for a graphics card which is fast and doesn't make any trouble? Maybe I should get myself a new one.
Thanks,
Kyraia
Hi
I have to say that my card, even though it's old now, is more recent and still decently computes: an RTX 2080ti, so that both my Poser versions can handle these settings:
I have the feeling that it influences the result of your OpenGl-based preview. Something I've already experimented and will probably never turn on again: "Enhance multilayer transparency".
That being said, changing your video card is a matter of balance between:
* how much money you can out
* needs for video ram
* needs for speed
From what I could find online, my old RTX2080Ti still competes with more modern RTX3070, from there the 3070Ti starts to be slightly faster.
And if I'm not wrong, the famous 3090's prices are lowering, given the new 40xx series coming.
To give an idea when speaking of video ram: the 11gb of my 2080ti could support an external scene with a 2k hdri and 13 victoria4 with their 4k bitmaps. I could not add a new not because of video ram but because of the amount of geometries the card had to manage (<--- not sure this is the real, true explanation but sort of...)
Last but not least: check your system's power supply.

Hallo,
as suspected, someone must have solved this problem before. By coincidence I figured out, that some characters have a material setup that fixes especially this problem and doesn't serve any other discernible purpose:
This black image does absolutely nothing to the render. It only makes the eyes visible in OpenGL preview. Well, problem solved :-)
Bye,
Kyraia

Probably, this problem is not new. Anyway, with OpenGL most of the characters have these black eyes (or corneas) in the preview which seems to be a problem with transparency preview. The renders, however, are ok. The SreeD preview is fine, too, but if I want cartoon settings I must use OpenGL.
My hardware is a couple of years old, but I installed a new Windows 10 just some weeks ago, so at least the drivers should be relatively up to date. Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks,
Kyraia
