Thank you, Primorge.
FWIW, I used one of the bundled 'wigs' for LaF that looks okay but did not significantly slow editing.
Also, just do lighting 'with wig' test renders of head+shoulders to mitigate weary wait...
Another 'gotcha' is complex foliage such as a common-or-garden lawn: 35 MB OBJ ??? I wrangled that monster by using Poser's ground plane and OBJ's bump-map set to 'displacement'. Just mind you set appropriate displacement scaling there, and 'displacement bounds' in figure properties. With care you can get 'Elephant Grass'...
A couple of things I might add to primorge's post, you might turn off the hardware shading. And turn down your preview resolution to 256 or 512. It will look bad on display but will make the scene more workable.
Available on Amazon for the Kindle E-Reader Monster of the North and The Shimmering Mage
Today I break my own personal record for the number of days for being alive.

I use Poser 13 and win 10

I'm using some older neftis hair on a model and every time I click the mouse, it seems to want to redraw every strand of hair, slowing the editing process down (and raising the frustration levels to new heights). I've tried making the hair invisible during editing to no avail and have just settled on saving two versions of my model, 1 w/hair, 1 w/out, and getting everything ready to render using the first and substituting the second at the last minute. But there must be some way to work with hair without these limitations! I just can't figure it out.
