Another pet peeve of mine is the hierarchy issue in many freebie contents. Runtime and crucial DAZ folders shouldn't be nested within a primary vendor or character/prop-named folder, it simply confuses any program-based installer and frustrates new users when they hunt for installed content. I have spent extra time rearranging files/folders within a zip file so that they install correctly. And please, place any documentation into its own-labeled folder within a primary folder called Documentation.
Oh, I am in complete, 100% agreement with your comment. I've had content folders misspelled, as well as additional junk folders and files added. It's not just freestuff, it also applies to some purchased products.Another pet peeve of mine is the hierarchy issue in many freebie contents. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes...
When creating Freestuff content (or even for sale products), please be mindful of those who download your content by doing the following:
MAC users:
Please DON'T include the _MACOS folder or the .DS_Store file in your .zip files.
PC users:
Please DON'T include the index.ini, thumbnails.ini or desktop.ini files in your .zip files.
These files are an annoyance to those who download your product. They take up unwanted space a pain for the recipient to find and delete all of them, especially if there are multiple folders in your .zip files.
Whew, I'm glad I got that off my chest.
