Subject: Gray screen when rendering is finished

LionkingCMSL ( ) posted Sun, 30 April 2023 at 8:42 PM · edited Thu, 02 January 2025 at 11:48 PM

Sometimes when I render a scene with either the GPU or the Optix selections I get a blank gray screen when it gets done.

The rendering process doesn't show like normal.

When I choose the CPU selection it renders fine, but it is a slow process.

The GPU I'm running is a NiVidia RTX2070 with Max Q Design and the CPU is an Intel Core i9 - 10885H @ 2.4 GHz with 32 gig of ram and 31.8 gig available.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Being I see no way of editing the initial post I will add that the GPU has 24.456 gigs of memory on board.

Having the same issue.  It will render fine for one or two times initially, then just produces grey screens.

that is typically your GPU crashing because of some improper material hookup. You have to restart Poser to get it working again but if you just feed it the same file it will just crash again.

Online Now!

Please add a ticket at posersoftware.com.  I have one in that Nerd is investigating atm, it may have something to do with older graphics cards, but without enough data it is hard.

If you submit a Ticket on this please include the Poser log window. If the GPU grays out there should be an error in the log. Also once a render fails in GPU it needs to be reset and right now the only way is to exit Poser and Relaunch Poser. So launch Poser, render the offending scene and copy the text out of the log window. That will help us find if it's a bug in Cuda or the scene was just too big to fit on GPU memory.

I've had the same problem, but it has only appeared in the last day or so.

Poser does not handle the error gracefully.  As Nerd points out,  you need to exit Poser and start over again.
