The location is Sci-Fi crew quarters by StoneMason back in the day when he produced content for Poser.

This one is Sector 15, again from Stonemason, which I purchased way back in 2011.  It had versions both Poser 5 and Poser 6.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

I am always amazed at just how much a change of hair style can change a character.

Yes, I should do.   A little while ago my wife changed from having longish hair to short and then decided to stop having it dyed and began to grow old gracefully.  It was certainly a change but then I think it was a conscious decision by her to change more than her hair.

One thing I'd like to suggest Hornet.... the first image above the hair is floating a bit too much so you see a strong shadow there.  May want to use the Morph Brush to pull those bits in the front a little more down int her scalp!

Someday I should do a tutorial on how I do these SubD morphs in Poser. But I don't know if other people even use SubD morphs in Poser.

Do any of you use the SubD morph features in Poser? And if you do, what would you like to see added to the toolset?

If there is enough interest we can start a thread specifically on SubD morphs. Possibly even a tutorial, possibly, lol...

No quads were harmed in the making of these morph.....

I would be very interested in a tutorial!

You are absolutely right so I need to see to that, I was a bit distracted as this hair is very difficult to fit to Dawn, most unusual for a hair style from Ali.  I took so much playing around to get this far I am not sure it is a style I will use very often but I certainly need to sort this one.  Thank you for taking the time to suggest the change and how best to do it.

I am still messing around with the morph I made to make Lafemme look like Sydney.

Added a little bit of weight to her. Gave her an elbow, that more resembles an elbow. And curves and such, in all the right places, lol....

And a lot of other little tweaks like the coracobrachialis, and the rest of her armpit detail.

All of this is still on the base rigging as well. Which is odd for me, I usually re rig everything that causes problems...

I seem to be morphing around it more now.... It makes more sense to do it this way with the improvement to morph transfers in P13.

c42f39395312d84d5cb568feaaa553fa_original.jpg

Going a different route of just using morphs has it challenges thou. I still have no clue what to do about LaFemme's neck...

That is going to require more than a few simple morphs to do poses that bend the neck and head very far...

Maybe I should use animated centers along with correction morphs to get it to look they way I want, dunno thou... Still experimenting with that...

On another note, I am tossing around ideas on how to do a "simplified" tutorial on how I do this....

I think it may be better to start small, with the foundations of how to do it, rather than jump right into SubD level 2 HD morphs...

I have done lots of tutorials in the past and this will be by far, the most complex tutorial I ever attempt....

Putting years of my experience with the morph brush into a small tutorial, wont be easy....

I also put a ticket in to fix an issue I found while doing this. It is a minor one thou.

BTW, these are textures that come with the installed content. MizzLi for Lafemme, with desaturation and increased contrast in the shader. Slight blue tint to the lights...

Yes, take your time putting together a tutorial, make a concise, easy to follow instructions that a layperson can follow.  I am looking forward to what you have to offer.

BTW, forget tinted lights, use the Blackbody node for Superfly rendering unless you want some bizarre color scheme.  It is the better alternative for physically realistic rendering.

I do use blackbody lights, but not all the time. Blackbody works great for an actual light/emitter, but not so much for light going thru treated glass, offsetting an environment casted color, atmosphere, etc. You are correct in that blackbody has it place, but there are other times you need a specific color to get an effect.

In that scene above that I posted the entire construct has the velvet texture on it, and without the blue light everything is red......

Sometimes faking, it is far better than doing it accurately, even in real life.

A perfect example is real stage lighting. You use known temperature lights, with gels in front of them change the color.

And those stage lights are 100% physically realistic and accurate.

Both ways have their place, in rendering and the real world.

No argument here.  I even used the wavelength node on occasion, but it isn't the same as an actual tint.  Point taken.

I decided to do a little reworking of the Mausoleum model found in the Poser Library as an included content.  I created new interior groups using the Grouping Tool and performed a number retexturing using AI generated images.  I even dusted off the old Ivy Generator and dressed the old structure as an abandoned tomb.  Using a combination of a modified HDRI and one infinite light with Blackbody moonlight and PostFX applied, this is what I came up with.

A little contrast might help the render.   Maybe a tighter camera angle and definitely DoF.  The background is too distracting.

When I use the morph brush on subdivided objects, some small but very noticeable proportion of vertices tend to go skittering off in random directions. I usually have to turn off subdivision, make the morph, and then turn it back on. Would love to hear more about your process.

Hard to believe that I tested this hair over 20 years ago... I was trying a bunch of old hair out on LaFemme, and this one (and a few others) stand out as way ahead of its time. I used the Ghostship hair shader on the hair material, but left the cap as the P4 setup. This hair required a really fast computer and P4 or Pro Pack, at the time....  It was very popular hair, and you can see why even today. No idea what became of Quarker. The Quarker store at Rendo, has been closed for years. The hair, is called Grace Lion hair... If you have been around for years, you probably have it too.

I am having fun doing much the same thing in much the same way and finding some really old content that is easily converted to render well in Poser 13.

Never purchased the Grace Lion Hair but I did buy the Radiant Jaguar hair way back in 2006.

I will have to look and see if I have the Radiant Jaguar, totally forgot about that one.

Radiant Jaguar, more than 12 years old, still good, thanks to Ghostship 🧡
