Subject: Best clothes formats to import in Poser12

AlexRuiz ( ) posted Fri, 01 September 2023 at 12:59 PM · edited Mon, 30 December 2024 at 2:59 AM

Hello.

I have to acquire some Medical clothes (doctor, nurse) to be used in Poser12 figures. Which are the reliable or easiest formats to import and conform those clothes. And where can I buy them.

Thanks.

Alex Ruiz.

Conforming clothing must be rigged for the specific figure you intend to use for your renders.  You weren't specific about which figure(s) you intend to use.  I haven't seen any medical clothing for the P12 figures except Miki 4.  But unfortunately, the website that offered the clothing is no longer open.  If you own V4/M4, you might still find conforming medical clothing @ DAZ3D.

Alternatively, you can use dynamic clothing, however, those may need to be scaled and possibly rigged to fit your intended figure.

Thanks, I really appreciate you answer.

So you recommend me to acquire the complete figure (nurse: body with clothes) rigged. Will it work good?

In this case what format would be the recommended.

Thanks.

Not necessarily.  To clarify, conforming clothing is rigged to a particular figure.  For example, a V4 nurse's outfit will need to be rigged to the V4 figure for it to conform exactly to the body shape.  The rigging is exclusive to the software it is intended for.

Now, if you use dynamic clothing, with a little work you can get it to fit different figures.  But the method to fit clothing is quite different than conforming.  Dynamic clothing requires animation to drape the clothing on the mesh frame.  It is perhaps better than conforming because the clothing responds to movement and gravity but it does take time to find the right settings.  Usually, a well-subdivided OBJ format works well with dynamic clothing.

What are your intentions for the clothing?  Are you doing still image rendering or attempting animation?  What figures are you considering using for your project?  That's important because not all figures have an abundance of clothes items readily available.

To be completely clear, you need to have the figure and clothes both and they need to be made for each other.

In RedPhantom's list the first one is made for LaFemme and L'Homme which are included with P12 and P13 and probably would be the simplest for you to buy and use with the least hassle and most modern rigging snd features.

Thanks to all of you.

Things are clearer now. With your information I will keep on searching the exact solution.

The RedPhantom list looks like a good solution (working with LaFemme and L´Homme for example).

I appreciate your comments and time. Really nice.

Hello. It is Alex again. I´ve just bought the set Heroes - Medical outfits for la Femme and L´Homme. They worked very well. My costumer (a Hospital that make training videos for nurses and caregivers) needs another outfits for (only) La Femme. 1. Isolation Gown. 2. Disposable apron. And probably another one. In a very simple way. They don´t have to be accurate.

My question is: Is it possible find a designer to manufacture or adapt these 3D costumes to conform on La Femme? We could start from zero or adapt previous 3D objects. The costumes can be simple, because the videos are purely educational.

Thanks in advanced.

You could try fitting this one to La Femme with the help of the Fitting Room (isolation suit)

Hello Rhia.

Thanks for your quick answer. I took a look on your lynk, but what I really need is a SURGEON isolation gown. Is a big blue gown dress, that covers all the body from the neck to the knees. The objec is very simple and I´ve found some for maya, etc. I´ll guess if someone could (being paid of course) buil it or adapte it  and conforme it to La Femme.

Any idea?

Thanks.

For that, I only found this:

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to convert it from those formats to Poser. If it is already in poser, you can use the Fitting Room, but you most likely have to dig for some tutorials, or perhaps someone here sees this and can help you--sorry!

Yes, that is the isolation gown I need.

I´ll follow your advice and try to conform it using the fitting room.

Thanks for your time Rhia, very kind.

FWIW, ShareCG has some Poser-compatible hospital equipment models. They may also be offered here, on Rendo...

If you can 'bill' commercial expenses, take a look on eg CG Trader, key-word SURGEON.

They offer medical facilities and staff in sundry formats. OBJ would suit fixed props, but I noticed some staff in animated FBX format.

A caution: Scaling aside, some FBX models import as a single, 'rooted' model. Others as a zoo of sub-rigs. If latter, the first sub-rig in Poser Hierarchy is the posable one, and all kin should be parented to that ASAP. Poser really, really does not like a surfeit of sub-rigs in hierarchy root...

Thanks a lot. I´ll take a look.

May be they can help me find these outfits.
