Subject: Superfly Rendering Settings

Is there a tutorial on Superfly Render Settings? I would like to get the best out of La Femme 2! I am used to rendering in Firefly! Cheers

I think Renderosity may have such a tutorial but there are also a wide selection of Superfly presets in Poser that you can experiment with.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

The presets are different in different versions of Poser, I think. I wish they were clearer. With Firefly, it's simple. You can just use the slider if you don't want to mess with too many settings. I usually push all the way over to the left until I'm ready to do a final render.

Superfly is so slow in comparison, and you really need to preview, because often, it doesn't look remotely the same once rendered. Somebody make a preset that's a superfast draft mode.

For a quick draft you could use the CPU/GPU Timed 10 second or the CPU/GPU fast preset with the Progressive Refinement ticked.  With the fast you can stop as soon as you have enough samples to meet your needs, both will give a grainy image but does give and insight into whole scene.

Without knowing which version of Poser you're using, it's hard to give good advice, but there are  tuorials here and on posersoftware dot com that could get you started:

this is for P13

this is for Poser 12

https://www.renderosity.com/premium-tutorials/164/poser-pro-11-tutorial-rendering-part-2

these are for poser 11

And, finally, the Poser Manual is rather useful in this regard. Poser 13's Superfly render section start on page  536:

Hey, thanks. Looks like the 10 second preset is new to Poser 13. It wasn't in Poser 12 or 11.

10 seconds is enough...

There is a node that turns a character into coal as render time, and it's called Ambient Occlusion. that's used for Firefly, and it's not supported by Superfly.
Another reason could the presence of invalid interconnection  between some nodes, shown as dotted lines in the material room. If you open Poser's LOG window, you may find a list of those invalid connections.

Timed renders is new to poser 13. It's also new to Blender where it came from (at least newer than poser 12. I don't remember which version added it.)

And 10 seconds is enough...for a rough draft, as hornet said. It's enough for me to see you need to update your figures shaders if you want it to work in superfly and you are using a very simple lighting setup (that's fine, it's just an observation not a criticism.)

With this, I can see my shaders are good, my lighting is satisfactory, nothing is floating, there is no poke through that I missed, the cap is really off that one bottle where I used a transparency.

That's with cpu rendering. With gpu rendering, it's a little better but no final image

I could use the fx and a denoiser but it might be a little harsh

The lighting is the default Poser lighting. I usually use an even simpler lighting setup for a final render.

EZSkin would fix it, though I probably won't bother, since I prefer Firefly. I just thought it was an amusing example of things that don't look the same in preview as they do after rendering.
