Which version of Vue are you using? I understand now what you're saying, and I have just been trying this (with Vue 4 with the 4.02b patch), and I have tried it with both procedurals and textures, in Object Standard and Object Sphere mapping, and when I rotate the sphere, the spotlight stays in place and the sphere stays lighted in the same way. When yopu rotate your sphere, is your spotlight rotating along with it? is the spotlight linked to the sphere under the animation controls above the world browser? There has to be a simple explanation to this problem. Have you tried your other lights to see if they are doing this?
I am using the 4.02 version too (no problem with it). No, when I rotate the sphere the light don't rotate. The light is not linked to the sphere. To make the test easier I switched of all the animation property of all object (no keyframe or object in timeline), working with a static image. I tryed with the sun at the place of the spotlight, same result. I'm getting crazy: I must made a short clip of the heart rotating in the space with same camera movement, and this problem is stopping me since 2 days! I'm almost sure is not a program bug, but something wrong that I'm doing. If you want I can send you the file of the scena, but it is 4,6 Mb (I cannot understand why, with just one light and 2 simple primitive objects). For me is not aproblem (I have a DSL) but I don't know if it is for you.
Yes, VARIAN, but I was puzzled from stars in the sky: maybe they increase files. But the problem is the same 2uth a 48 Kb file with a scene with standard daylight, sun an camera to north, one cube with the standard checkboard material (it is a object oriented material). Rotate the cube each time of 90 degrees in the top view and you (I !) will have 2 faces with a lighter light and 2 faces with a darker light (same if you rotate in the side view). And this don't happen if I make the same with my old Vue 2

Hi, suppose to create a sphere, and then to map it with a texture reproducing the planet Heart (I found some good one). The mapping projection setting for the object is "object sphere", since you want the surface turn when you turn the Heart (heart is rotating in the space). Then to simplify you delete the sun, and put a spotlight illuminating the object (but the problem is the same with the sun too). Here's the problem: the Heart seems not react right to the light. It seems as it have "printed" its own light. My spotlight (or sun) only add light to it, but of course when I rotate teh Heart light seems not natural: a side have good light, the other is underexposed, regardless as you move and set the lights, I tryed to set the Diffuse, Ambient, Liminous tab in the Lighting-Effects tab in the Material editor, with many different value, but no result. Nobody experienced similar troubles? Thanks. ***Luca "cinacchi"
