Subject: PIAA's reopening ...

Schlabber ( ) posted Wed, 31 October 2001 at 4:42 AM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 5:52 PM

12 days left until PIAA (Posing is an art) is supposed to be reopened ... It will be some very workfull 12 days ... (out of my normal work - in my sparetime ...) because none of the Website-design is done so far (lol) - but it's easier for you if that's your normal job - so I'll take the next weekend to develope this design :o) and keep the promised relaunch-date of Nov. 11th. So some questions: Do you have some good addresses where to find approx. 125 MByte of webspace with UNLIMITED bandwidth for a moderate price (if that's not possible ... as much traffic as possible AND after hitting the limit closing the site for a day, week, month WITHOUT getting me extra fees) btw: yes, I got some very nice offers the last time I asked but perhaps there are some other ideas (this won't mean I don't like the offers I allready got). On this offer it depends how much will be available at the new PIAA then ... I think it won't be possible to bring back the whole free stuff at once ... but let's see. So far 400 new poses will be available definately then (of course for free - lol) ... let's see if I'll get some time to do more ... and so another question: Any new poses-wishes ?? ... If so - please state them fast and here !! Thank you all (and especially those who bought my CD :o) Schlabber

Good luck! Sorry but I don't know about the space.

I always have pose wishes, cos I seem to suck at this area of Poser (hmmmmmm..... ;) - Couple poses (for Mike/Vicky, Vicky/Vicky, Mike/Mike) are very welcome :) - "Real life poses", like picking your nose, scratching your ... armpit etc LOL - model poses (not stiff standing types but the kind you see in fashion mags nowadays) - poses with an item, such as chair or a ball or something :P I'm sure you have already done lots of these but I just thought I'd ask :) Waiting for your website to open! How about some Piano poses (hands) for that Daz piano? And maybe a salute or two for our military characters... Thanks!

An idea might be to get an old cheap computer 300 Mhz, network card, hard drive. Using a cable modem and hub have one connection to the computer running a NT server or LIUNIX software. I have it set up at my place and host a bunch of super hero related sites. I just pay $10 for domain and cable modem and have to redo the IP address (10 work once you know it happened) around 2-3 times a year.

Well, you could do poses for some of the free critters out there, like Anton's Dragon...

Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!

400 new free poses?! Thank you so much, your generosity is always appreciated! Although there are some fine poses in the store, I almost think it's silly to try and sell a package of 10 or 14 poses these days when you continue giving away hundreds of commercial-quality poses for free. :) As far as new poses go, I'd really just like to see more Victoria and Michael poses of any kind. I know you don't like working with them though, sorry! ;) Best of luck with your new site reopening, take care! SnowS Hoping his pictures are worth 1001 words.

hmm - this sounds in fact interesting Helen - do you know what happens if I'm over this transfer-amount ...

Helen ( ) posted Wed, 31 October 2001 at 10:26 AM

No I don't because I have never been over the limit.. I will see if there is something on the site about that.

It looks like a nut, this spaceport... they give you the space, but you have to do what they want in it...no banners,no material depot,no this,no that... better a cheap rate... and do what you want. You can try to read the conditions of www.f2s.com. It is a very good hosting service, very used also by the Open Source community. It does'not cost too much, and the service is really very good. You can also begin with a free 20MB to test it. Bye

You really have to check ou this site. It's my provider, since hmmm, i think more then 2 years no major problems. They're allways available trough phone and had an open ear for questions. THE PARAMETERS: 350Megs of space. unlimited transfer rates. 100 mail accounts. Online administration of: mail-accounts mailing-lists password protected directorys And last but not least, a well choosen place for the servers at host-park in Zich-Switzerland which i think had the best backbone in Switzerland (except the one from the University). And a really hot price of 79.- Swiss-Francs per Month. SHARKEY

Hy Ron, i'm 100% shure my site was never down for a "few days or weeks". Because i have my site as my starting site and i was each day on the net since several weeks. And i also can have a look about what has happen in a report and would be anyway informed when the servers would be taken down for services. But last but not least it wasn't thinked as a "shameless plug" for my provider, i didn't have something from it. SHARKEY

No problem Ron. But have no longer time to depate which host is god or not. Anyway my site is available since 2 years with no longer breaks and moved at no time. Which means no one has to change Links/URL's and most important i don't have to spend too much time with moving the site all the time while some so called free-webspace providers (it's nothing for free) tend's to change their opinions about business-politics. Just a screen-shot what happend the last year with my provider/my site. BTW: there where many possible reasons why a site wont show up, and not all of it is about the reliability of the providers servers. SHARKEY

I gave up and started hosting myself a while back when our company needed it :) Dedicated servers are my happiness these days... Though I used to have dual T-1's into my living room int he wild and crazy "dotcom" hayday :) Go go rackspace.com :)
