Subject: Aram hair

lakes123 ( ) posted Thu, 18 April 2024 at 7:53 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 12:16 AM

I need assistance.  I have Aram hair.  How can I make it completely black or at least make the gray effects disappear as shown in the image?  It was supposed to be black hair.

Reduce the glossiness or the specular. It is reflecting too much light.

How do I do that?

I meant to ask is there a way to do it other than the materials section?  If not, how?

It needs to be done in the Material Room.  Provide a screencap of the Material Room shader nodes. Make sure the nodes are open to reveal the setting values.

Show me what is connected to the Alternate_Specular channel.  Also, disconnect the nodes at the Ambient_Color and Translucence_Color channels.  Translucence_value set to 0.

We're going to need to see something along this line with everything spread out so we can see what is plugged into which node.

I would recommend that most of the windows in the Material Room be closed so the Material panel could be expanded.

This is the current "firefly" render with the advanced material room.  Hope this helps.

According to the screencap, there are several incorrect node connections that should be corrected.  Understand, this is an old hair piece and the way the shader is 'wired' works in Firefly, but it isn't efficient.  The image below illustrates how to correct the node arrangements.

Notice, the Blinn node is incorrectly attached to the Alternate_Diffuse channel.  It should be connected to the Alternate_Specular channel, and if it looks anything like below, decrease the reflectivity value until the specularity of the render is reduced.

This should improve the hair texture without completely overhauling the Material Room.  You may need to make similar changes other zones.
