Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 17 12:50 am)
I don't see it saying it has importer files. It says it has "1 DSON Core Installer", which means the native DS files. DSON is the format used by native Daz Studio files (a Daz-Studio specific dialect of JSON), the (no longer available) plug-in was a Poser importer for those files, which required either additonal files to make the product directly accessible through the Poser library or something like Dimension 3D's tool to make it work like a refular File>Import option (I won't post the link as my browser complained there was a trojan on the site, hopefully a false alarm).
Yeah. Installed and still runs when I load the Genesis 2 files. Just can't seem to launch it independently to give the item a shotCheck with vendor.
DSON is/was? an add-on one had to install in Poser to read the obfuscated proprietary file formats DAZ uses. DAZ did not maintain/update it and I do not know if it is still available. AFAIK it did work with Poser10.
That is a process I'm not familiar with. Exporting to CR2 doesn't seem to work, but then there is no skeleton to choose so I'm guessing it is an assemblage of props. I'm considering seeing about exporting an obj and rebuilding it from that inside Poser. After examining the item's webpage, it seems that a PoserCF file for the DSON Importer conversion is not included. One must create the Poser Companion File in DAZ Studio, then place it in a Poser runtime folder, and finally, run the DSON Importer script.
Yeah, got the plug in. Apparently it doesn't have the extra file though the artist said it is compatible with it.I don't see it saying it has importer files. Travists posted at 7:03 PM Thu, 2 May 2024 - #4484246Cool. Since you are online (and I don't know if you saw my post on it) do you know if "XL - Content Library for Poser" will successfully pull the jpgs out of the DAZ file? If it will do the whole thing great. I never have the money for the latest version of Poser, so I'm quite familiar with how the file structure sometimes lets new stuff in despite being newer than expected, so I can work with getting a newer file back-ported. And if I can get the jpgs for the textures I can rebuild the thing from the exported then separated OBJ file.RHaseltine posted at 6:57 PM Thu, 2 May 2024 - #4484245Ah, I hadn't looked at that section - it is sometimes a bit overoptimistic, I will flag it up.Travists posted at 12:21 PM Thu, 2 May 2024 - #4484223I was referencing the companion file mentioned by hborre, the product page says it is compatible with the importer for Poser though.RHaseltine posted at 9:35 AM Thu, 2 May 2024 - #4484214Where did it say that? And don't forget to save your work on the material settings in the library, so that you'll be able to create alternative ones, if neededTracked down those darn textures! Assigning them as it asks on import is taking forever, but once done I should be ok.... I hope.

Travists posted at 4:09 PM Wed, 8 May 2024 - #4484520Yep! Many of the materials use five textures (six if Poser [10] did normal maps). So I planned on doing just that. Likely go through and build another for the red texture set as well. The OBJ just pointed to the main texture...... Even got the parts moving right!!And don't forget to save your work on the material settings in the library, so that you'll be able to create alternative ones, if neededTracked down those darn textures! Just bought an item (Super Stinger) and it says it has a DSON importer for Poser, and I've imported other stuff before, but this has no CR2 files with it and for the life of me I can't seem to get it to import.
Any ideas?
