Subject: difficult one-piece prop

drawn ( ) posted Wed, 12 June 2024 at 9:14 PM · edited Mon, 24 June 2024 at 12:58 AM

I have this prop of My Living Room that unfortunately seems all one piece. I cannot click on any part in it and do something with it. The roof, for instance, which blocks all those lights from illuminating the room: I cannot touch it alone to make it invisible or not there. I cannot move the piano. I can't use it like this, but there must be some way to control the separate pieces. I wrote the developer, but no answer. Can anyone here solve the enigma?

Regrettably, the item you've purchased contains embedded geometry in a prop format. To manipulate individual objects, you must first extract the geometry, rename each object, and then re-import them into Poser. As this function is not native to Poser, and considering the item was created in 2017, support may be unlikely. The only solution is to employ a geometry stripper to separate the object. A free tool is available for download at a specified website. https://www.vanishingpoint.biz/freeitemdetail.asp?FreeItemID=421

Unfortunately, the My Living Room product is a Complete Scene Prop.
To make an object in the scene invisible, you can select the obj materials and reset the Cutout opacity option.

I found the OBJ folder for livingRoom, but it's a long string of numbers with no identification as to what any no. refers to, so how can I not only find the part for roof and 'RESET THE CUTOUT OPACITY OPTION" ?

You are not supposed to open the OBJ file.  If you read the post carefully, you need to enter the Material Room after you select My Living Room in Poser's Pose Room.  Hopefully, the material zones are labeled with recognizable names.  Set the Transparency channel to 1 on the PoserSurface node.
