New Poser Users Help F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 19 6:44 am)
New to Poser? Ask questions here for expert help!
I don't see anything wrong with posing Andy using the Translate/Pull tool. Breakage could occur if you go beyond the capacity settings of the joints, but I can't duplicate that in my Poser version. The hip on any figure acts as the center of its universe; it will translate the entire figure in any direction. If your intention is to pose the hip while other body parts respond to its movement, then you need to turn on Inverse Kinetics for the legs and hands.
You will benefit in using the translation tools, Direct Manipulation tool, and Parameter Dials to achieve a final pose.
Thank you for care. Please look at the video. Maybe you can spot what I'm doing wrong.
I have manipulated and abused Andy in Poser 11 and have not broken him the way you demonstrated. I did notice that you are running a MAC Poser version. I suggest you submit a support ticket and allow the techs to look closely at what is happening. Although Poser 11 is no longer updated, they may be interested to see if this is also happening in P13.
Andy is not made with linear joint zones. I never expected him to actually be used that way. Yes, I originally rigged him. So if you really want to play Stretch Armstrong with him do this ...
Select the body part you want to be stretchy
Open the Joint Editor [Ctrl]+[Shift]+J
Click on [Create Smooth Trans] then [OK]
Andy says, "I am Gumby!"
Rinse and repeat for any joints you wish to stretch.
Also stretching out the limbs is not something I want.
But have a look again to this video. I deleted the preference file and the application support folder, cache files and general all the peripheral Poser files. Of course not the content folder at User/shared. It shows that after starting Poser translate works after undo it doesn't work anymore. Please have a look at the video:

I have a problem with the default character Andy. The one that appears when you start Poser the first time. The bones don't stick together when I use the Translate/Pull tool.
In fact it's it little bit more behind it. When I grab his arm the first time, it works. I can lift his arm. When I release and grab the arm again to pull it to left or right, the arm separates from the shoulder. When I grab his hip and pull up or down the skeleton sticks together how it should.
Someone an idea what's wrong?
