Subject: Are you renewing you Daz membership?

shedofjoy ( ) posted Fri, 17 January 2025 at 3:02 AM · edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 3:51 AM

My membership to Daz expired in December, and due to their new memberships schemes i decided not to continue, as i prefer a yearly subscriptions, which last years i picked up on the cheap.

Am i in a minority who think like this?

Just curious, don't want mud slinging.

I think the popular option is to pick up a month here and a month there of Premier for the big sales with the best offers. There is no point to touching Daz+ any more - You're basically paying triple for the same old benefit - Weekly freebie, monthly freebie, 2 coupons. The incidental discounts are notably less than for premier - Premier ate Daz+'s lunch on promotions. Sometimes, Premier get exclusive offers - Daz+ gets nothing. So, bye-bye Daz+.

Anyway, The idea is to start a Premier sub at least a week into a new month when you've had no Premier sub. 10 days or more might be better. I had Daz+ until December 18 and got Premier on the Pays-4-Itself promo a few days later. That was awesome! After you have the subscription, wait a few days or longer and cancel it. It will then run for the remainder of 30 days. This way, you get 2 sets of coupons and 2 free character bundles.

Do this during a big sale when you can get a lot for your money, especially with the improved rate of token collection (especially on Mondays and Tuesdays). It's all win-win. If you can get a good % off on gift cards, that's gravy. The only other point to note is, the $10 off $25 PA coupon gives a slightly better discount while expecting you to spend a few dollars more - Again, totally worth it during a big sale. I plan to buy another month at March Madness. We'll see how that goes.

No, I didnt renew my membership. The new prices are just insane :( Maybe I will renew for a month or two in the end of the year, but for me there is no reason anymore.

Mine expired at the end of the year. Not paying the current membership prices. Without the membership I'm not paying the shop prices. Also don't like them hiding software features behind a sub. Might get a month for the PA sale. I have the feeling that they're trying to squeeze as much as possible out of a shrinking customer base.

I can't help but think this must be hurting Daz, i see a lot of people saying the same thing, but no one yet has said they love the Premier... although there must be someone.

Will be interesting to find out what the profit margin is compared to the previous years, when premier reaches a year old.

No. Daz+ runs out for me in June.

I was offered one month of Premier in exhange for my current Daz+. I asked if I could pay for a month of Premier to try it. They said no, and it was a one-way deal. I declined.

Maybe if Genesis 10 either fixes or has available shapes to purchase that give a better looking male chest than Genesis 9's female-focused breasts.

My DAZ+ membership expires this month (in fact, I think it already did), and I'm not going to renew it. Pay for features and content that I lose if I don't keep paying for it? Yeah, NO.

I got the DAZ+ membership back when Genesis 9 was introduced. I didn't find anything I wanted, so let the membership die.

The new Premier(?!) membership has no appeal for me.

I will probably buy just 1 month of Premiere in the fall when they have their big PA yearly sale. Then I'll try to stack the deals, tokens, etc. to get as much stuff on my wishlist as possible and then I'll just cancel again. I think they have really shot themselves in the foot with this new pricing structure. I don't think anyone likes it. I've heard nothing but negatives with no upside for the end user. I guess if PAs are making more money since people are getting worse deals, and paying more, maybe they are winning? But I doubt it. I'm patient, I have things that sit on my wishlist for a year or more. Its just a hobby, there is nothing that I actually need, so my wishlist can sit there for years until Daz is giving the items away as legacy items.

I've said this elsewhere, but I'll say it here, too. Everything I've read up to this point, maybe 5% of the responses have been "heck, yeah, sign me up", another 10-to15 % have been "I'll give it a shot", and the remaining 80% has been pretty evenly split between "meh" and "no f'ing way". And those 10-to-15 %ers are saying that they're cancelling after trying it out or will only do it for the sales and then immediately cancel afterwards. I'd also say that probably at least half of the people commenting have said that they're scaling back on their purchases or stopped buying entirely (like myself). What I'm not seeing is anyone saying that they're stepping up to replace the people who scaled back or stopped buying, so on the whole, this really seems like a loss -- and a big loss -- for DAZ and Tafi. They managed to hold out for about a year on their insane content encryption scheme, and even then, they never encrypted any of their big ticket items (so they wouldn't chase those sales away). Let's see how long they can hold out this time.

I am curious.. what do you mean with "content encryption scheme"? Doe you mean I type a search word and it does not show all the items, even if I exactley know how to write the item? .. because the site often did this to me... nearly everytime I try to search for a certain item :(

For a while, I forget exactly when, Daz was encrypting their content files. It was odious and irritated a lot of people.

Oh, that was with the extra installer then, right? I have a big gap in my Poser time from 2007 to 2024.

I think so. I mostly missed that flap, too. People still regard it with great bitterness.
