Subject: What does it mean when...

Trying to put Vicky's dress (red one with long sleeves) on her and it doesn't appear? Is it corrupt? All the other clothing works so I'm terribly confused.

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2001 at 1:03 PM

It might be hiding behind her, have you tried to conform it to her, that might be the answer

velvetdream2 ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2001 at 1:10 PM

Tried that. I can see the cirle for the item and can move that around but it just isn't there. I've rotated in all directions looking for it too. shrugs I thought it might have been because something was wrong with Vicky so I restarted Poser to start with a blank scene, clicked on the dress to "Add New Figure" and it's still invisible. I looked at the properties and it's checked for visibility.

hmmmm (scratches head) how about the scale sliders are they all at 100%? I don't think it's a problem with vicky, have you tried to reinstall the dress? oh yeah I just remembered getting rid of the rsr file for the item with the problem can sometimes fix problems

steveshanks ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2001 at 1:16 PM

try deleteing the RSR that sits with the oBJ file, might be its corrupt and poser will just make a new one........Steve

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2001 at 1:18 PM

yeah that's the one I meant thanks steveshanks for correcting me :-)(memo to c1rcle, be more precise in future)

velvetdream2 ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2001 at 1:20 PM

Ok do you mean deleting it off the hard drive altogther or removing it from the libraries on screen? Heh I've never done this before so I'm just making sure before I go trapsing around with files. :)

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2001 at 1:23 PM

yeah find the folder with the obj and rsr files for the dress and delete just the rsr file, if you delete the obj you lose the dress totally and that's not a good thing

X-perimentalman ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2001 at 1:25 PM

Hunt down the rsr in the geometries folder for the item and delete it completely. Poser will rebuild a new one next time it starts. They go corrupt all the time and cause problems like that

steveshanks ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2001 at 1:29 PM

no not the one in the librarys the one in geometries....mine is zygote clothingmilwombldress.rsr...what happens is poser loads this rsr file because it can load that faster than the obj, but if you delete it poser will just build a new one and the load will take a little longer while it does so....sorry c1rcle i disdn't realise you'd said the same thing i'm terrible for just replying without reading LOL......Steve PS while on the subject of RSR's NEVER EVER delete the one in the poser 4 folder named poser.rsr thats posers engine, the rest you can delete freely ;o)

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2001 at 1:29 PM

that could cause the problem in the beginning, it doesn't hurt to delete the stuff, it can be reinstalled later if you need it, I've got enough freebies to fill 2 cd's but I don't have the room to have it all installed at once, so I use it the delete it till I wanna use it again

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2001 at 1:34 PM

yeah whatever you do don't delete poser.rsr I did once and had to reinstall poser, like steve says any other rsr file is ok to get rid of, I now get rid of all the rsr files in geometries once a month just to make sure, sounds like overkill but it stops the problems happening, Steve, you said it better than I did anyway :-)

Goldfire ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2001 at 2:48 PM

Steve, that's a good tip, and I've never heard that before. Is that what usually has happened when something you've been using suddenly goes bad? I started using the Shania suit from poserworld in a sceene and after about a week of work on the file one day it told me 'can't load object' or somesuch message. I've been meaning to delete and reload the suit, but maybe I'll start by trashing the rsr in the geometry file.

steveshanks ( ) posted Thu, 01 November 2001 at 3:18 PM

A bad RSR doesn't usually give an error (i think i been on PPP for a while) but it could be that, remember the old santa suit we made, well we didn't give out an rsr with that but the file messed up loads of folks p4 man rsr's i think poser has a mind of its own at times LOL.....Steve
