Same exact problem here. Here's what ya do, it's a pain, but a small one. 1. export/import in .3ds, this seems to work, when I run into this type of problem. OR (better yet, I believe) 2. Export normally out of Poser. Use "UVMapper"(see link)to open the .obj. (File>Load Model) Let it load, click "okay" when it's finished. Save .obj. (File>Save Model) That's it. Don't know why this works, it just has everytime for me...so far. Best of Luck, if all else fails see #1. Agent Smith

It did work, but it does come in as a greyscale model. So, I will have to go into the materials editor and reassign all the textures manually? Okay, I've not really done that so this will be a whole new learning adventure for me. Thanks again for your help in providing a solution. It was pretty obvious that Corel wasn't about to do that. Tempus - That came out great! Nice job and I like the colors you've picked out so far.

Better late than never? I had found this a little while ago, but haven't had time to try it. It is a small, free program that is specifically for when you export from Poser into Bryce. It is a "middleman" that is supposed to make it so all textures, bumps, trans, etc., imports into Bryce along with your model. Take the link, click on "Tutorials", and then "Grouper 1.1". That page will tell you all about it and has a download link. Hope this can make your exporting/importing easier. Agent Smith

this is supposed to be fixed in the update of ppp..go get it if you havent. explanation to what is happening follows (as it was explained to me): OBJ files are given groups within their text files indicated by g groupname in many instances the obj file from poser does not always have this but has g this can cause a few things to happen in ppp directly (the notorious holes in the mesh around the hip and waist) or in export (the crash in other programs). ever noticed when you open a file in uv mapper exported by poser it has a blank group at the top? When you export and reopen it, that blank group is gone. update your PPP with the patch ;) BT

I was working in Bryce earlier and was trying to import an OBJ file. The file originated in Poser 4 with Pro Pack. It starts the import and then pops up an error that simply says "A file error has occurred" (i/o, bad media) I thought perhaps the file was corrupt. I can import it fine into Carrara. I ran a scan disk and defrag on the drive incase there was some corruption. Same problem. I then moved the file to try from another location, just incase it was sitting in a bad spot and scandisk didn't get it. Same thing. I went to the Corel site to see if there was a Bryce patch or upgrade. Nothing. Checked the knowledge base. Again nothing. Checked to see if there's Bryce newsgroup from that site, there isn't. Finally, I broke down and called Corel. I got the WORST customer service ever. The guy didn't even try to resolve it. It was if he didn't even know where to begin, didn't even care to try, or to ask at the next level or check with a programmer. It was a very disappointing experience. I'm hoping someone here has run into this and can offer some help or a suggestion.
