How do you make those props that have doors that can open, drawers that can be opened, boxes with lids that can open and all those kind of things...how in heavens name do you do ? Do you prop the different parts together in Poser or what ?!? Sky...confused as always... :-)

You can move some stuff by morphong it. But most of what your talking about is making a multi part object into a figure. ScottA has a good tutorial on it here A Renderosity. Sams3d has some tutorials on there site too. A quick example: You make a box with a lid in yor favorite modeling program. Export it without welding or joining any of the parts you want poseable. In this case the lid and bottom 1/2. You bring it into Poser (after making a good texture template in UVmapper). Now select the object and open up the grouping tool and spawn prop. This will break the object up into its componet parts. Delete the orginal to get it ot of the way. Now go into the hiearchy editor and put either the lid under the base or vice versa. I'd put the lid under the box in this case. Now go in to the joint editor and adjust the lids centr of rotation near where the hinge should be. Now go back to the hiearchy editor select the model and then click create new figure. Delete one you have(its not a figure) an load the one from the library. Voila! Hope that made some sense.

Oh yeah forgot to mention in the case of the box you would want to select the bottom 1/2 of the figure and select properties and turn off bend. Else when you pose the lid It'll warp the box.

free advertising never hurts :) I've been going round at work telling all my mates "get poser, go to renderosity and check out all the links from there" I've convinced 1 person to buy poser and he's just waiting for it to arrive then he's going to join here. I just wish I had some more money, there's so many great things I want to buy, happily some of the best freebies I've found are on Sams3d.

Have done a Tutorial the last days because some others requested the same thing. It reflects all steps trough assigning materials and groups in UVMapper and doing the PHI-file and poserizing. At end you have room as figure-file with opening windows and doors. The objects which i used for the Tut where included. Good luck. SHARKEY
