Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 03 12:46 am)
If you mean texturing figures like Vicky, then it takes lots of practice & experimenting... To change skin tones, just open the Material window, select the Skin parts & change the base color by small increments, also try in the "Light Beige ones... All depends on what you want in the end! Also, play with the Highlight & Reflection settings! My favorite setup for Skin is Higlight(Dark Grey 40,40,40 at 40%) & Relection(Almost Black 15,15,15 at 60%). As for the Eyes, that too is subjective! My sttings are as follows: "Eyeballs"(Tranparency at Min:80%, Max:90%), I sometimes had a Reflection Map at 35%... Then for "EyeWhites" & "Iris"(I had a 20% Bump Map of the same texture used). Oh! If you want them to stand out even more, then you could change the "Ambient" from pure Black(0,0,0) to (15,15,15)... Also, consider that the lights in Poser are Additive!! Meaning, that if you have a blue light, that blue will add to the color of the skintone & so forth!! Always make sure to use very Light colored lights! And try to avoid "Green" ones! Very light Blues, Yellows, oranges are my favorites! These are by no means rules! Just my guidelines! I'm sure the pros will have more insight! Marco
Bonbon, if you mean the great textures people are using in their images, you'll find a lot of them in the Free Stuff here at Renderosity and over at 3D Commune. You simply save the textures anywhere that's easy to find, then in the Materials window (Render, Materials) select each part of the figure from the pull-down, and browse to your texture and select it. You only need to browse for it once. Or you can click the Apply to All, but with Vicki and Michael, whose head and body textures are separate, you'll need to select each part indiviudally. Fortunately, a lot of the textures are now coming as MAT pose files, so you can select them from your library as a pose and it will apply all the parts for you. Check the Readme files in the downloads for instructions on how to install and use them. These are a great invention and time-saver. I hope this helps. Melanie

first check out my website's tutorials section, there are a few geared toward texturing and there are 4 free sets (1 each for the P4s and the millinium couple) As to putting textures into you library you have 2 options. 1. set your figure up in poser load the textures the way you want them and save as a character. This takes up more room on your hard drive but is easy for a novice. 2. create a mat pose file. This method is the most versitile method and takes up less room, but is not as easy to do because you will need to edit the file in text mode. (I haven't even done this, I usually do all my textures manually or by method 1)This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Our own cookies make user accounts and other features possible. Well, as some of you have noticed( and i thank you looking at my horrible art)bonbon has taken on Poser 4 and now I really need help.I have so many questions ,but I think it's best to focus on just 2 for now(it's all my feeble brain can handle right now) I am perplexed by how to do the texturing. The guide is not very detailed about that and so far all I have been able to do is lighting to change the skin tones. Is there a way to make the skin more life-like? And how....also, how do I put textures into a library? Eyes: help me on how to get those fantastic eyes that everyone is doing. Okay now that I have babbled on, can anyone help me? Thanks for taking the time to read this and I would be grateful for any type of help. =]
