Subject: Frustrating Problem - Exception Handler Error

whitemexican ( ) posted Fri, 16 November 2001 at 8:48 PM ยท edited Thu, 01 August 2024 at 11:31 PM

Caught C exception: exception access_violation trapped at 18f: 411d29 That is the message I am getting when ever I try to render using the High Res Maps. I have tried to modify the maps, add a scar to the face and tattoos to the body but it never renders. I get the message above and have to force quit Poser and then try again. Sometimes I get the error right away others when I try to render. I have created the character three different times. I have recreated the textures twice. Any ideas?

Hey Whitey!! This means that you need to download and update the patch for Poser. You can get the Poser 4.03 patch at curiouslabs.com1 This will fix this problem and others Take care! Betsy

Alright did that. Now when I go to render the working window pops up and nothing else happens. The bar doesn't move and I can't stop it, I have to force quit. This is only when using the High Res Texture. 1ghz 512mb ram just so you know. The other problem is fixed however, thanks alot.

Ok now this is a memory problem. Two things will cause this. So i will give both answers PC: if you are on a Win 98 or ME operating system, then Windows will only allot memomry upto a 128 block at a time. With current Poser version, the render still requests one block of memory, and for a high res texture it will need at least 300 mb of ram. So you may have 500 mb of RAM but if on 98 or ME, it can't be put to good use. The answer, upgrade to 2000. MAC: Change your memory allocation settings to Poser minimum 150000k and preferred 250000k. That will fix most problems but you may need to allocate more memory to it. Hope that helps. Betsy

SIDETRACK/OT (apologies WM!) [Betsy] "So you may have 500 Mb of RAM but if on 98 or ME, it can't be put to good use." Help! Might someone elaborate on that issue a bit further, or point me somewhere to get clued-in? I just helped a friend upgrade the RAM in his ME machine from 256Mb to 512Mb. Did we perform a pointless exercise? And, if so, how much RAM CAN be put to good use in W98 or ME? ...ok just re-read the above and now further confused. Betsy, are you saying that in 98 & ME, Poser can only use a maximum of 128Mb of memory?

From what curious Labs has explained to me... yes. I talked to Mr. Hernadez at curious labs after alot of y customers were emailing me that they couldn't render high res maps on 98 or ME. Basically the way he explained the problem was that 98 and ME were programmically incapable of providing memory in one block at more than 128mb. For most programs this is now problem, most programs don't use that much ram at a time. However, Poser asks for lots of memory and all at one time for the dreaded render. Is there a work around? Other than upgrading to an NT kernel software... not that I know of. Betsy
