I hope they offer this promotion to Macintosh users, if/when Avatar Lab for Mac is released. I suppose that, in turn, is dependant upon the release of a Mac version of Atmosphere by Adobe. Even then, it has been posted that the first release will not be OS X native. Adobe needs to work on GoLive X and Photoshop 6.5 at any rate. ;) As I plan to get a new Mac G5 in January, that will be the date that I will no longer by programs not written with OS X in mind. Hopefully, Poser 5 or an OS X-patch for Poser 4 will show up before then, as well.

I also want to add: What if we already bought AL? I just recently purchased AL and lo and behold the offer comes along. I was going to wait to purchase AL, but was convinced to buy when I did. So we who ran out and bought Al when it first was relesed, will we be able to get a rebate or some sort of compensation? It never hurts to ask. James And I hope like Poser (cross platform/hybrid CD) it is a free download for MAC when the MAC version is available (with serial number of course) to us who have a PC and a MAC.

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 4:42 PM

Well I was going to order it but I can't. I put my information in directly from my last credit card statement and it keeps sending me to a page that tells me I'm putting in a bogus address. Don't have the patience to enter the info again. Called Curious Labs and no one answers. So I guess this is one I will skip Marque

starlet ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 4:59 PM

Marque- I checked in to your situation personally and have contacted the security system: Verisign. Unfortunately, since our system is built around their's, we have to take what they say as law and they say that this is an issue with your bank. Is it possible that there are either punctuation issues or etc? Please email me at service@curiouslabs.com. I am still investigating this situation further. I am VERY sorry for the issue. Tori

starlet ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 5:06 PM

Marque- This situation has been handled. Please attempt to order again. Tori

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 5:13 PM

Thanks Tori. Got it. Now another question. Are you going to be implementing this type of texture mapping in Poser 5? Because I will be getting it if you do. Or, and update or plugin would be great too! Thanks again for the great help. Now to go get Atmosphere. Marque

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 5:20 PM

OK, now how do I unlock it? Got the S.N. but it's wanting a different thing, a response code? Thanks, Marque Yes, I am having a bad day today, sorry if I seem grouchy. This weather change destroys me.

starlet ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 5:26 PM

starlet ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 5:32 PM

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 5:35 PM

I sent you an email, and got a response asking me for the info. Hoping I will be able to use this before I die of old age. Marque

gryffnn ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 7:22 PM

Guess I won't know what I should be looking forward to in P5 until I get AvLab? Belated congratulations, Kupa, and much happiness!

SergeantJack ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 8:33 PM

Speaking of which, what's the deal with Poser 5? I went looking for info on it at curiouslabs.com, and couldn't find it. Granted, I only looked for about 30 seconds, but there are many shiny objects nearby and it's hard to concentrate. What's the scoop?!?

Maddhatter62 ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 8:37 PM

I just downloaded AvLab and registered it. Awesome product! I'm creating a dragon-headed, catcher mitt-fisted, cyborg- legged, woman. Why...because I can...and it's EASY! My thanks to Kupa, Starlet, and the rest of the Curious Labs staff.

Maddhatter62
P.S. At $29.95 it's a steal!

jschoen ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2001 at 11:18 PM

Welcome back Kupa! Hope you're not too worn out from the honeymoon wink James

Save $40 Nearly 50% off Only $29.95 the math is askew...

diana ( ) posted Fri, 30 November 2001 at 7:53 PM

Your trial download link keeps sending me to another page instead of getting the file in Netscape 4.77 - this page is what I get instead of the exe:
http://www.curiouslabs.com/trade/productlist/5

Netscape 4.x does not support spaces in filenames, that is the issue because when I copy the link and remove all the spaces inserting the %20 instead, I get the file save dialog.

http://www.curiouslabs.com/products/avatarlab/Avatar%20Lab%20Trial%20Setup.exe

will work in Netscape but not what you have now

The filename with spaces link in IE5 starts the file download.

nitreug ( ) posted Fri, 30 November 2001 at 11:24 PM

I just buy this tool and it looks very good. I do not know how it export to standard format outside Atmosphere but I like it. I did not read nothing and in five minutes I was able to put a picture face to an avatar, pose it briefly and make an animation. Fantastic. Hope it will be included in Poser 5. Claude

diana ( ) posted Sat, 01 December 2001 at 7:30 PM

I bought it today, been playing with a jackelope human hybrid character all day, laughed my ass off with that moon walk animation and that thing. I don't plan to ever use 3d worlds or Atmosphere stuff because it's so boring to walk around in low poly pixelated worlds bumping into low poly pixelated people and objects, well, it's like playing Quake or Heretic. (I'm no gamer) I bought it because I wanted to make quick weird characters I could use in Poser and use the cool face mapping thing too.

The link to download the file after you buy it has spaces in the filename and will not work in Netscape either without the manual editing of the copied and pasted link in the address bar to replace all the spaces with %20. It would be very frustrating to those that didn't notice the problem.

kupa ( ) posted Sun, 02 December 2001 at 3:59 PM

Diana, Thanks for your input about the file name space issue with Netscape. I forwarded this thread to the development team. Steve Cooper
