Oh my gosh Poppi are you alright, was anything else taken? If you got anything from us, just write us and we will replace the models for you. SharenThank you so much, Sharen. Nothing else was taken. Not even money that was sitting up by the monitor. The monitor and keyboard, even wires, speakers and mouse...all left. I don't know....I get so nervous each evening, on my way home, now. And, sometimes, just sitting here, I get a panic attack. I hate that. Hopefully, all will be okay. Thanks for your offer of replacements. Right now, I am being very busy, trying to make some clothing in rhino. (For some reason, that is very soothing to me, like crocheting, or something.) Pop...pop...Poppi!!!
Oh, Poppi, I am sooooo sorry to hear that! I lost my hard-drive a few weeks ago, not as tramatic as what you experienced, but the results were the same........I LOST EVERYTHING, and didn't have anything backed up on CD's at all. What I am writing to tell you is, that all the purchases I ever made from here as well as from all the other wonderful people who sell things on their own web-sites, well....they were all nice and wonderful enough to send me the files again, once I explained my situation to them. Also, Daz, will make a CD burn of all your purchases for $20.00, a small price to pay if you have bought as much as I have. It's just a thought, but I am sure that anyone you contact about your situation will be more than happy to help....they were absolutely wonderful to me,(thanks again, Sharen) and it made losing my hard-drive, so much easier to accept. Funny how we can get so attached to a machine like that. (: Take care and I hope your new computer is bigger and better than the one you lost, and that you will be back to rendering in no time. Genny
I had almost everything backed up, but 3 of the cds that I burned were "bad"....cheap walgreen's cds. A friend gave me a computer to work with, but it has a tiny hard drive, soooo, I have to be very sparing in what I put in here. I had some things that I consider the "must haves"....they are all going in, and that is about it. I swear, I went through physical withdrawels, last week. Pop...Pop...Poppi!!!
I tell you what, my thoughts are with you , you have just made me glad that our landlord has seen the light and is going to install a burglar alarm in our place. I would miss my PC more than anything else in our house, especially my poser stuff. and links if I can help with any !!
The greatest part of wisdom is learning to develop the ineffable genius of extracting the "neither here nor there" out of any situation...."
Just me again, Those CD's that you think are bad, may not be, it may just be that the computer you are using won't/can't read them. I have a few programs that my deceased computer would not read, but when I put them on my kid's computer, they worked just fine? Go figure? So, for now, I would hold onto them and wait until you get a new computer of your own, you never know, they may work, and they don't take hardly any space at all to save. (: Genny
Oh poppi, how awful! I know how panicked you must feel. Several years ago before Christmas I was attacked in my home, I am still jumpy! (I fought back and the attacker ran away but it left me terrified and I always double and triple check locks now). I'm with genny, I thought some of my cds were bad but they worked on my new computer just fine.

Bummer... Oh that is terrible. You must have been terrified. I am glad you were not hurt. I can understand the withdrawal. Last time my puter was down I actually had one to use (hubbys) but it wasn't the same.. We should have a Poppi drive... Help her get a new puter... Maybe a store product with the funds going to pay for a new one and if there ends up with some to spare then that could go into the community fund.

I want it back.
You guys are all the best!!! I am sure it was someone who knows me. No, there wasn't a forced entry, but I didn't have a deadbolt, and, basically, you can easily pop the door open with a credit card. In fact, there have been times when I had it locked from the inside, and, the wind blew it open while I was asleep. I just hate this anxiety that pops at me. I am happy to have the use of this swell 166, 4 gig machine, cause at least I can use rhino. Pop...Pop...Poppi!!!
It might help your anxiety a bit if you were to get that door fixed, get one of those chain things, they are easy to install and cheap too. If you own the place than I would say get a deadbolt installed. Or if you rent, get you landlord to either do it or get permission to do it. but as to the locked door flying open, sounds as if the knob isn't installed properly (had that once) the problem could be the bolt part doesn't extend far enough into the slot for it in the door frame. (I don't know all the proper terms for door knob parts so I hope I'm making sense) I know that doing all of this would be a bother, and won't get your computer back, but think of it this way, a good lock is cheaper than a computer & installing it is easier than replacing all your stuff. Good luck.
Yikes! Get a dead bolt! They don't cost too much. Hope you recover everything and your insurance replaces your hardware with even better stuff. Have some friends with newer PC try those CDs to see if they can read them. Take care. jon

There is a basically brand new gateway at the office...plus another 2 various and sundry craptaceous machines. The cds would not open on any of them. Yeah, I guess I will get a friend to install a deadbolt...Only, only...which friend can I trust? I KNOW it was someone I know. I am also moving. Landlord is not getting one penny of my rent...he could be a suspect, also...but, that is not legal, and, I didn't owe him any rent. Why am I suspecting him? Simple...the day it got stolen, he was working around the building. He did not come by for the rent, as usual on the first. In fact, his face has not been seen around this building since the theft. (And, he used to date my next door neighbor, so he comes around alot, 'cause she has a NEW CLOWN, and, he is basically stalking her...that slimedog!!! Man, I'm gonna start taking my bird to work. That should be fun, NOT. Pop...Pop...Poppi!!!
Hire a locksmith. It will give you the peace of mind you probably need right now. They are bonded (at least around here) and can be trusted. jon

LOL...I'd hire a professional...but, I cleared a whoppin' 350 dollars last month...Like the rest of my town, I am kinda depending on friends. Times are very hard, here, in south florida. 9/11 damaged our tourist industry, hard. Couple that with...the anthrax scare, an amazingly warm season for most of the county, and, the olympics drawing potential tourists to Utah...where 2 out of 3 of my daughters live...Well, LOL...cause we don't have a quick word for cry cry silent....I'm just tryin' to do the best that I can to hang on to my business. I've had it for 5 years. But, sometimes, I wish that burger king was hiring. Poppi...serious for a change.

you can get him back if you lost him at the link btw, hes improved (more morphs) sorry to hear about your puter...can't believe no one saw anything. have you asked around? BTCool beans, Val. I would love a really happy toad, or...or, ooor....A little garbage lizard, like my poor outside one, who got killed by a pack of feral dogs, this past summer. Errr...and, that little snail in, I think, the modelling forum...Now, he's a cutey. Hummmmm...Please make me anything that you think can be happy...Also, give him/her tons of personality, like the boid. Enjoy making it, and, I will enjoy using it...That's how this game works, I do think. Pop...Pop...Poppi!!! Oh, and, many thanks ;*)
Poppi, Hang in there, sweetheart, and if you need help to afford a professional to get a deadbolt in let us know - I'm sure the community could help out, like we help bone when he's short. I suffer from panic attacks too when I get really stressed and then get phobic so I have some idea how you feel. If you don't suffer from them, folks, be glad. They can be terrifying. So please let us know if you need help. Goldfire
