First I posed the model and printed it, I then traced the the image onto another sheet of paper and then edited it and drew in detailing. The model is The second Alien Virus and I built at props guild, I just wanted to show that great drawings can be made from this figure.

Pretty cool, nice shading on the second one too btw.

Now who wants to color the Alien?

Oddly enough, this was one of the original purposes of Poser: to provide reference models for sketching or drawing, replacing reference photos and books. I just found a really old advertisement for Fractal Design Poser (back when it only existed on the Mac) in my archives. Oh, the memories ....

Don't me get wrong I still very much love 3d, But I find 3d a little restricting, you must buiold and render everything and that is a time consuming process in a modeler program. But if you can draw it, that saves tons of time, Not as virtual as 3d but then again it does have more of you in it then the computer. Mixing and blending the 2 is fun too.

This is a great figure (the Alien). A while back I created a few poses and an animation preset for it (available at Props Guild). While doing that, I developed a light set that would allow a line drawing-like render (along with a sketch preset) and was usable in animations. Not quite as detailed as the image above, but it was all done within Poser with no post. The animation looked great like this. Here is a sample image. Saving the animation as a movie and using a codec produced a line-smoothing effect that really made it look like it was hand-drawn. The codec effectively blurred everything slightly removing the usual harshness Poser produces in the edges of it's renders. Krel

Krel, do you have that light set and sketch preset posted anywhere? I could use something like that.

Yes, send your email address to: krel@infi.net Or if you prefer you can arrange to have it posted (I don't have somewhere to post). It's very tiny...... Krel
