Okay ... here is the picture again .. one of these days I will figure out how to load a picture from my drive .. ThorBryce.jpgThe dern pic again

Still not there. From your drive--just go to 'upload image', then 'browse', find your .jpeg image, then you have to scroll down to 'all files', and it will load your .jpeg. Anxious to see your Allie hair. Jim Burton's suggests to me that the coloration will make a difference--unless he moved the hair object. Diane B

Hmm, maybe its the color. You and Jim aren't getting the 'head' coming through on the top but I'm wondering if you selected all the parts, including the 'head' part. It doesn't look as transparent as mine--more like the 'head' doesn't have the transmap applied. You know--up there along the part. All the strands are transmapped, obviously, but the top just doesn't look as 'sheer' as mine. You are also getting the shadows--I left mine one but made the density of the shadows quite a bit less. Interesting how different they all look. Diane B

I did that but it still didn't wat to upload .. not sure why. Has never done it that way .. I know .. Not really sure why it isn't registering but there isn't really any trans in the center portion to my knowledge .. or very little. What I did s a couple of things. First off I did a texture on the base figure to form the strands going into the scalp look. The figure is made to have this hair style or a pulled back one so I have the map to work for both. Then all I did as tint the allie hair and loaded the obj. When it came into bryce it had no trans applied or anything so I took the hair, grouped it all to work with it and went into the materials. Selected the metal grid sphere form miscellaneous I think. It has a trans and double layer thing so it is easy to work with .. changed the specularity color to a more golden tint and then went to the textures. In the metal looking area I pulled in the Allie hair and loaded it into the alpha also. In the crossed layer I load the trans map. Made the bump on the hair part to something like 3-5 and then rendered .. didn't take more than a couple minutes to render on normal antialiasing ..Hope that helps some ..

Okay, so you added a .bmp if I read it right--and also you added 'texture' to the head (or base). That sounds like a good thing to try. Maybe you might have time to do a 'printscreen' of the material lab-hmmmm???! smile. I'm having a little trouble visualizing what you've done. Thanks, Diane B

Will do ... And yes ... added texture to the head for the fine hair's .. Kinda like the "is this cool?" texture below by tlaubach(sp?) and I will do the screen in just a sec ..

Okay .. Here is what I did .. I have it linked for those people that don't want to look at all the materials thingers The base texture, just a real rough render that got half chopped but it shows what you need Then I went ahead and took the hair and applied the steel cage material here Then I went and added Allie's texture and did the substituion above .. Could probably use a little more bump in there but that gets the basics .. just a real quick thing to show what I did ..The final materialfor the whole hair

Hmmm, I follow. I'm just wondering, if you selected the hair twice for material, if one overrode the other though. I'm not clear about that. Thanks for doing this. I think printscreens can be really helpful--esp. in Bryce material lab. Diane B

Nope .. Just altered the material first time ... I figured it out last time when I did a transmap for women's hair three .. took a lot o f fiddling and fuddleing ...Good luck
