Been a while since I posted a pic. So here goes. Something I have been working on for a bit. Well the characters at least. Just whipped the scene up pretty quick. Pure poser render with a little bit of a fix on the shield. Just a quickie. Let me know what you think.

Dang it is really light here. Maybe it is just this screen. Just a quickie anyway. Later

Seems a little dark on my own screen; that's the curse of having a crappy 15" monitor. The characters look good. I don't see much room for improvement. I like my orcs with hair, but that's just a silly personal preference. The standing orc could use a scabbard for the sword, and perhaps a belt pouch or a backup weapon like a knife. He seems underequiped. That's a great expression on his face, by the way. Beautiful background. Was it done in Bryce?

aleks ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 2:13 AM

the standing one has small feets. in general, apart from the faces that really look good, they look just like humans. you should go for the "orkish" look also for the bodies.

Kayleb ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 6:51 AM

No pitty for an ork! Looks great.Might change the pose of the arms for the kneeling orc and raise the sword arm of the other in a more threatning manner.

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 8:11 AM

Still working on the hair for them but they are still gonna be peartly bald and all. Any props can be added but I was just showing the base figures. No Bryce was harmed in the making of the pic. Just use the 3D worlds prop that is brokered at Daz. The orchish bodies are kind of a no go since it is really based on the clothing as well. I did teak all the limbs to make them more orcish but I had to go in instead of out. Sort of play within the existing clothes mesh. And it was just a quickie pic but thanks all.

Here is an orc that is better in orc proportions but as you can see his clothing is rather more limited *S* Props work but conforming clothing is a pain. Some works better than others but the changing suit isn't one that works well without magnets galore.

aleks ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 9:31 AM

texture looks great! yes, that's a pitty that clothes designers make very few (more often none) morphs to go with the target figure. i don't know why do they suppose that we'll all use standard michaels for knights or such. if it's free stuff it's ok, but for the paid clothes one can expect at least global body morphs also to apply to clothes. but that's an altogether different thread :-)

Kayleb ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 9:39 AM

I like the skintone better in this render, has that kinda orc green hue to it. Body looks a bit too human though, but not sure what needs to be changed, might change his posture a tad to make him hunched over. How about some nasty black long finger and toe nails too.

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 9:40 AM

I don't know. I suppose that is true and most people do. Not knocking Anton's suit but it just doesn't scale very well. It wasn't really meant to. Most of it can be fixed with magnets but it is jsut a lot mor work unfortunately and it is so tight fitting that peeking is definately going to happen in a lot of cases. But thanks! been working on these guys for a while and just wanted some comments and hopefully compliments S

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 9:45 AM

A lot of the color in the first render was from the lighting but he is more green inthis one. Though orcs are gray in my book. Never got nto the neon warhammer green orcs S Still gonna work on the body some more but don't know if anyone will want something that can't be clothed easily. And the poster does need to be changed but I was showing more the proportions. Those orcs would be sooooooo yelled in my high school english class. Bad posture all around S

aleks ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 9:58 AM

"Never got nto the neon warhammer green orcs S " hehe, you obviously havent seen the greenneon mountains near tscherno-ville. orcs from there have battleaxes from uranium. there worst problem is they can't really sneak on anyone at night ;o)

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 10:08 AM

Snicker Nope .. haven't seen them. I normally go and paint my warhammer Ork's more in a Tolkien grey anyway. Though they are harder to spot as being orks if you are almost blind ;) They defiantely blend a little more than the neon does

aleks ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 10:19 AM

if my memory serves me well, there are some different breed of them. your pair seem to come from the isengard - as treebeard suspected, cross-breed between humans and orks from misty mountains, who don't like sunlight but still can fight in the light of day. there are also big, ugly uruk-hai from mordor, more animal like, and also one smaller breed who used to inhabit minas ithil and cirith unghol - guys who made frodo and sam some trouble up in the mountains (what was the name - snaga?). so after all, you are maybe right about them :-)

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 10:37 AM

Yep there are those breeds though the Uruk were more human though as tall as men. And Snaga means slave but they are the runts and all. There are a bunch of different breeds but the primary one is orc and uruk. then there are the half orcs which almost look like men except they are ugly and have more slanted eyes.

Hmmm . . . I guess I'm a little late to this discusion. :) I really like your orcs. I am working on some fantasy creatures myself, including an orc. (I should probably post a pic someday). I am curious where you got the clothing for them in the first pic. I am particularly intereted in the pants on the kneeling one and the footware on the standing one. Thanks! Jay

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 12:35 PM

Never too late and Ijust posted it this morn :) Thanks and the clothes are the Michael fantasy changing suit available at Daz. They are a texture set I hope to have for sale soon to go along with the orc. Though it may be a seperate thing. My first for sale thing and I am trying to kick out all the stops so to speak.

jschoen ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 1:16 PM

OK, you asked for it Ghost.... First of all.. I love it! No here comes the critisim. The face is exceptional, and the texture is also beyond great, but I agree, this orc needs more of a Orcish body. Large feet and hands would help. a sunken in stomach (it's hard for orcs to get feed a lot). Muscles in the calves (these guys have a lot of marching to do) and forearms (lots of heavy axes to wield). Other than that, as useual Ghost, you've done a great job. James

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 1:24 PM

Thanks James! I have been trying to figure out how to make the a medium of clothed or no way in heck will things fit on him. Since it is going to be for sale I don't want people upset that nothing will fit on him etc. But I want true orc lovers to be satisfied. Might have to do two CR2's so people can pick the one that serves their purpose better. That is kind of the way I am leaning right now but not sure.

Anzan ( ) posted Fri, 07 December 2001 at 2:11 PM

The texture for the fantasy suit is real nice.. I like the whole damn thing. :grins: I'm in the middle of an orc project myself.. though I'm going down a more "monsterous" rode with them I really like yours. Can't wait to see it in the marketplace Anz
