Well I'm not sure you could call it "more complex" than anything in KPT (I think it depends on what you need for the project at hand), but I believe the effects you're looking for can be found in Eye Candy 4000. Check it out at the link. :)Universe does the star and nebula effects... there is a stand alone and a plugin for PS (the standalone app spits out .bmp files of spacecapes) - I don't know of one that also does fire... I use Eye Candy for fire... there is also a pretty good fire plug by Pan- ummm Pancoptium (or something like that!)

I don,t think the fire has been done with a "Photoshop" plug-in.I,m pretty sure it,s been done post production using a Bryce, volumetric texture plug-in, which is available for free from Claygraphics site at the above link. If you do a search on "fire" in the Bryce forum here at Renderosity , also check out the links to the "Fire & Ice" tutorials which cover how to use the texture. If you do checkout the Claygraphics link hit the back button & check out Clays amazing space pictures in the Gallery. They are very similar to what you are after & it may be that there are some tutorials on that as well here in the Bryce forums.I,m not sure what your after here.If someone has told you about a new photoshop plug in programme then prehaps you could check & see what else it does & see if that rings a bell with anyone. If your after the same fire effects as your sample pictures then, trust me,they are done with volumetric fire in Bryce rendered on a black background and copied onto a layer set to "screen" then tidied up with a little fading & erasing.I suggest you go with Varien & check with the artist. I cant say how the space was done, but I,m pretty damn sure about the fire in the samples you have linked to.
It's called Genesis. The plug makes complete worlds, starmaps, you name it. I don't remember who makes it, but you can always check out these. http://showcase.netins.net/web/wolf359/plugfind.htm http://www.photoshoppluggedin.com/ http://www.adobe.com/products/plugins/photoshop/main.html Sorry, I wish I could remember who makes it, but the plugin was way back in my photoshop 3 days.
Yup, mugsworth got it.
Genesis (vfx), Demo, 5.2MB
Genesis is a professional special effects plug-in for Adobe Photoshop. It creates spectacular lens flares, outer space effects, heat distortions, particle animation, gas clouds, glows, sparkles, and electricity effects. The demo places a red X on all saved images.

The latest version depends on which software package you are using. For lightwave it is at version 2, for photoshop it is now at version 3. While its easy to push a button to create these effects, they can also be created the old fashioned way. For example the fire. By creating a transparent layer and using the wind filter along with adjusting the hue and saturation levels you create a wavy flame. For a lot of tips and hints, check out http://tutorialhound.com I can post advanced photoshop tips and tricks here if anyone is interested.
