Obviously, I'm still learning the basics- mainly at this point trying for good color, light effect and texture. There's a spotlight and a dim point, no ambient.

Wow, thanks! That's encouraging- I look and just see all the flaws! (Another nice bit from Moray.)

we all look at our stuff and we see every single fault, but other ppl say other things so i guess we have to beleve them instead of ourselfs. And dammit its great, look at the transparency, just perfect. And the specular.. oooh the specular and the wine and and.. well im sure it tastes good :)

Eak its been awhile since i invaded the forums here hmm lets what i can help with :)looks good so far, a little tip instead of using specular highlight on your glass use a reflective highlight like in the real world, first off build a quick room with a nice window, the window plane should be made luminous with a percentage of about 300% to 600% place your table with glass and bottle in the center of the room, turn down specularity to 0 on the glass surface and reflectivity of the glass should be about 15% to 20%. you will notice when you render the image now the glass will have reflected the window far more then the rest of the room producing a more realistic highlight. if you are having trouble understanding this go to http://www.savinoff.com/ for a great tutorial which is probably were i should have sent you before typing this :) Hope this helps, Good work so far anyway. P.s remember glass has a refraction value of 1.5 and an airsurfuce refraction value of 1.003 Keep up the good work Nick

Oh, Iam! I know what you're saying. I haven't built my backdrop yet- it's going to be like a wine cellar. The current lighting is "see by" only. Thanks for the link and info! On my way now.

The glass objects are obviously very good. You definitely paid a great deal of attention to your specular highlights, transparency, etc., but what really grabs me is the texture on the table, plus the very subtle reflections of the objects. It's overall, a very realistic-looking piece. You might be the Moray Expert of the Year for this one. :) -Mike (who has no trouble with most apps, but can't figure Moray out...)

Thanks, everyone! I'm really new at cg, but I try really hard. I have been SO sick the last few days- I've been goofing around, comp-wise. (Never do CG with a fever, lol.) Anyway, I decided since I was so miserable, I'd send my little bottle and glass somewhere nice. This one's called "Wish I Were There". ;]

(It's by no means done,I'm just posting it for commentary, and amusement value.)
