Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.

This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.

yes, first thing i did when i got vicki1 a couple of weeks ago was zero all her dials and her hips went square! there is a smooth morph that is turned up by default.

do more bewitch me than when art is too precise in every part
Incidently, if anybody is intrested, here is what is going on: Vickie II has a "soften hip" morph that is set to 1 by default. There is also a "pbm soften hip" in the buttocks and a soften hip in the abdomen, both of these appear to be off, however, they are both run by MCM (morph controling morph!) from the hip, thus both are actually at 1 also. This is sort of a pain, methinks.
That's about the spot, but it probably isn't this problem. These days I mostly add JCMs for any tight-fitting skirt. Otherwise they tend to break through here when the bend reaches about 30 degrees. You can try playing around with the bulge settings for the thight bend (in the Joint editor), but that only helps a little.
Yes, I contacted Anton about this and he too said it is a prob with the Vicki OBJ file and prob within poser itself. He states that poser has for a long time has had problems with skirts. I'll have to tinker with some theories to see if there is an easy way to circumvent this problem. Probably not, but it's worth a shot. To keep her belly or other hidden body parts from protruding through we can just make those body parts transparent, as for the thigh...LOL that is the issue I'll try to work on. I may end up modelling my custom characters from scratch if the Vicky problem can't be resolved. I'd hate to do that because of the work involved, so I'll see if I can resolve this problem first. I do some character animation and can't have this problem in my poser chars.
To give you a little background, Poser wants to have a figure (and the clothing is a figure) with parent-child part relations, you can have mutiple children from the same parent but you can't have two children sharing vertexes. Thus pants work well, hip parent, right thigh and left thigh children, but a skirt needs an area defined as a hip between the area defined as thighs, and it screws up the bending. And skirts below the knee are a real problem, as there is no real way to put in shins.
Hmmm... Illegitimate Children. Yes I agree that sounds correct. I saw another article about circumventing that particular rule by Bloodsong I think. There are probably a multitude of tricks to get around the prob. But some of them will most likely cause different limitations. Arrrghh. If I figure something out I'll certainly post it here. If nobody else has figured it out completely, not sure how lil ole me is goin to, but I'm the master of manipulation...heheh. Thanks Jim

I'm doing Vickie clothing again, after a long break, does anybody know why Vickie (I or II) doesn't match her obj file, on the sides of the hips? I suspect one of her morphs in this area is partly on, even though all the dials seem to be on 0. Or maybe some scaleing is set, I don't know. If you want to see this for youself, compare an exported-from-Poser vickie to the BLmilwom.obj, your see some differences around the hips.
