First select head, then scroll down to BrowGone and type in 1.000, then go to the material editor, click the eyebrows and then select your color white. Should take care of that. Sharen PS: Help yourself to some of our freebies too when you get a chance, we have poseable and non poseable, and 4 pages full

thanks sharen ...you have been helping alot :) can i do the same for the lashes??

SAMS3D ( ) posted Fri, 04 January 2002 at 7:01 PM

What you do for the eyelashes is sometimes depending on the tranparency map for them, which you have to apply you have to move your transparency scrolls over to 100% both of them to see your eyelashes. It depends on the mapping. Sharen PS: you are quiet welcome, I had the same questions when I started.

SAMS3D ( ) posted Fri, 04 January 2002 at 7:04 PM

If that doesn't work I will get back to you exactly how to do it, tomorrow morning. Sorry, time for bed. Sharen

because i am using the micheal character since he seems like the persont to use and i just made my lashes black...so all i have to do is move the transparency and that is it?? unforunately i dont know what mapping is..i am assuming that it is the texture i put on an object and thank you so much sharen your the best

The brow gone feature is really a mistake. It actually bores a hole in the head, where the brows would go. Oh, and the setting won't stay if you make some other changes. There are a couple better fixes for this problem. There is a Michael eyebrow transmap in free stuff. If you have bought the Michael 2 textures, you get MAT Pose files which fix things for you. You can also make certain manual settings to take care of the problems. Check out my tutorials on textures, and Michael's texture settings. You will find some excellent, clear illustrations.

Ron, your tutorials really are wonderful, thank you, I was doing it all wrong.....I am sorry to sir_pyke for giving you mis information, follow what Ron said. Again Ron, wonderful tutorials, thank you. Sharen:-)

Sharen, You obviously know a lot about this stuff. Look at all the wonderful work you and Sams3D do. I can't even create anything myself yet. This Brows Gone thing is something many people recommend. I first ran into a problem when the setting kept disappearing when I used a different pose. Now you know me. If I don't understand something, I ask questions to the point of distraction. SOme kind souls eventually explained to me just what happens with Brows Gone. Sharen, have a great day.

I did the same thing, I knew that the brows were not really gone, but sank into there head, because I to moved the model around and saw them. But I never new how to apply the map really correctly. But, not only that I saw your tutorial regarding Dreamweaver, it is great, I am thinking about getting it. I love how it works, but your tutorial helped make my mind up. I can come ask you a bunch of questions now. Thanks again for them. Sharen You have a great day too.

I really appreciate the compliments. I look at you, and Sam's 3D, and I see people whom I regard as "experts," or at least fine artists who I might learn from. And now I have the honor of helping you with something?! Wow! I'm glad you like the tutorial on Dreamweaver. I have to state I've gone back and forth between Dreamweaver and Microsoft FrontPage for years. In so many ways that count, FrontPage is much better for people who have large, intricate web sites. FrontPage takes care of all the "housekeeping and updating" details, whilc Dreamweaver just comes close. So I am about ready to swing back to FrontPage, and come out with a whole new look for my web site. I had spent a lot of money on "Themes" which give the web site such a good appearance....I don't find that kind of stuff with/for Dreamweaver.

If you were going to suggest a Publishing software would it be Dreamweaver or FrontPage....I like the looks of Dreamweaver, but don't have time to mess with alot, straight forward is what I need. Sharen

Both Dreamweaver and FrontPage are "What You See Is What You Get" (WYSIWYG) packages. That means you don't need to know HTML code to do the job. Both programs, to some extent, keep track of any changes you make, and update your site to reflect those changes. FrontPage seems to have the edge when it comes to updating your work on the actual web site itself (as opposed to the copy of the web site on your own computer.) FrontPage will automatically publish only the changed pages, and update all the appropriate stuff on the remote web site. Dreamweaver calls their process "putting" the web site. If you want to be sure to update all your changes, you need to searh for the synchronize command, and that is a bit clunky when compared to FrontPage. FrontPage is an easier to use program, which also has many advanced features that you can use if you wish. There are some more advanced features of FrontPage, such as your own guestbook, etc, that would require a web server that supports those advanced FrontPage extensions. Most of us won't use those extra features, so most web site hosts will work fine with FrontPage, including freebie ones. Dreamweaver is billed as more geared toward experts. Dreamweaver does less of the housekeeping chores for you. However, in some areas Dreamweaver seems to make things easier. One great thing about FrontPage is "themes." Themes give your web site the look and feel that you choose. FrontPage will automatically make any banners, navigation buttons, etc, to go along with the theme you want. You can decide to have text links, buttons, etc. Just click on something to make your choice. FrontPage comes with many themes, and you can get many other themes for free online. I've provided a link to Pauls FrontPage Themes. I consider this to be one of the better sites dealing with FrontPage Themes. I bought a few of them myself, and yearn to use them again. With Dreamweaver, you will need to work on your own navigational buttons, banners, etc.... That is a lot of work, and it is harder to come up with a good uniform look to your site. It is hard to capsulize all this in a relatively short message. Hopefully some of this information helps you to begin making a determination. Now let's look at price. The last I knew Dreamweaver was much more expensive than FrontPage. Maybe $100-$200 more?! I haven't priced either program recently. I've been fortunate enough to have both Dreamweaver and FrontPage. I really miss some of the ease of use that FrontPage offers.

Just for the heck of it, I'm providing a link to my wife Dodi's web site. Dodi is still very much a newbie at all this. She's only worked on her web site twice in 3 years. You can consider this a beginner's site, but it is done with FrontPage. The Paul's FrontPage Themes site is a better indication of the professional work you can do with FrontPage. Sharen, if you like, we can communicate more directly. You can use my "main email address:" ron@ronknights.com (easy to remember!) Or if you use MSN Messenger, I sometimes dust off the program and use it myself. I use ICQ once in a blue moon.

melanie ( ) posted Sat, 05 January 2002 at 7:26 PM

Sir Pyke, it sounds like you're not applying 100% transparency to the eyelashes. Make sure you have put the sliders for Eyelashes to 100% on both Max and Min, and make sure you have the lash transmap loaded for Transparency. THat should fix the solid eyelash problem. Melanie
