Ok, this (as usual) started out as a test render of a dress I made today. Just thought I would post this to get your guy's opinion on the "leatherness" of the texture mapping. Good? or could be better? Let me know. -Trav

Good point on the wrinkles. I made the texture from cloning the heck out of a pict of a leather thing from a lingere catalog :) I think I can pull the fold lines so they hug the shape of the body more in PhotoShop, maybe get some more samples and feather them in ;) The wrinkles on this were pure bump map. I was trying to keep the mesh as smooth as possible so that I can use it for a bunch of different styled outfits later, but using Amorphium is a great idea. Thanks Cody! -Trav

Man I gotta get me a 3D object maker... Too many ideas and Poser just can't do them all... Do pretty much all the object modellers allow you to base the shape of one object off of another? So that you could easily shape the dress or other item to mostly match the figure?

Truth has no value without backing by unfounded belief.

Arcady: I haven't found one yet that will do it easily. The process is a little drawn out. You have to make a series of contour lines (mainly by hand) around the body. I am stuck on making dresses because I am still working out some bugs with my process when it comes time to add arms or legs to an outfit :) Then you have to split the mesh, UV map it, group the materials, and then do the joints :) -Trav

Try adding a fine grained bump made of really fine noise. I can mail you a simple technique in how to add grain to it in Photoshop5. Mkae it REALLY fine and use it as a bump.

Thanks Ikyoto, I will give it a try. -Trav

I would have bought it as leather, but ditto on the repeated highlite textures down the dress's right side. Bump maps for the leather wrinkles perhaps?
