Subject: Need help wit an idea I have...

gunsan ( ) posted Mon, 14 January 2002 at 2:26 AM · edited Tue, 11 February 2025 at 3:05 PM

I have an idea I dont know how to get through with. My father died a year ago and I want to make a filmstrip, or something like that, showing his life. I have photos from age 1 to 95, and would like to make a kind of revue of his whole life.I have in mind a filmstrip that coils over some background, but I dont know how I can make that filmstrip to behave the way I like it to. Think I must do it in segments, use different filters like deforming tool and warp and such. Does anybody have any ideas how to do it the best way? Or any fresh ideas of other kinds. I have a tube of a Kodak filmstrip with four windows that I can use. Brainstorming please! :-)

Dear Gun, I think it's a lovely idea...I've used the shear tool in the distort filters of Photoshop to do something similar...not sure if this is what you mean...?(This is a rough example using an image of my youngest and yours truly) That line through the top of my head was just because I wasn't paying attention properly when I was doing this just then! :-)>

Oh thanks, that is just what I had thought as a solution. The issue is that I have 12-16 pics I want have. Maybe I can hang four stripes with pins beside eachother. Shear tool, I will remember that... Aha.. so that is you my dear PunkClown, nice to see you :-)

What about scanning strips of used film, either negative (color or b/w) or dia positive...than creating photomontages with them and the pictures you have...than distorting them as you like...
Sounds impractical, no..?
And also, if you ask me whether I can do this or not...I can't...
...But, ask Antoonio or another master Photoshopper... :)

Dear PunkClown, it's nice to meet you with your face...
How old is your youngest..?
Since I dealt and played with 8-months-old baby of my nephew for ten days during his and his family's visit just before the new year, I saw that my feelings about becoming a father started to change radically...towards the positive...
Your youngest is a healthy and beautiful child.
Best regards. :)

Thankyou Gun, Doruk, I only wish one day we may all have the opportunity to meet face to face...Doruk, my youngest is almost 8 months old...I am indeed fortunate to be a father, it's a wonderful "job" LOL All the best with your project Gun!

Thanks for the idea Doruk, I am glad for all ideas, if they sounds practical or not. Some day somethings just happen, let us see what... Now that you have shown us your face I dont want to call you PunkClown anymore, but is Stephen or Cameron your first name? More ideas please, anybody.........

I would be very happy if you called me Cameron (which is often a Scottish surname, but in my case it is my first name) Stephen of course is usually a first name for boys! That's what happens when your Sirian parents don't research Earth names properly!! :-)>

Cameron, yes, and if we take your origin in mind I should call you Sir Cameron ???

Gun, do you plan to do paper print, or just store it to computer? If you print it, I would suggest to do like doruksal said. Scan strip of negatives, copypaste few times, so you can do long strip enough. Add pictures you want and then tweak the final work. You can use photoshops shear tool, there are also many filters that does the same. If you want to archive pics in computer, do HQ-slideshow and convert it to big avi-file, you can even add music if you want. There are no same feeling as looking at print though.. I esteem the work you are doing, and if I can help, just ask, anything. .n

No...just "your magnificentley high exalted one" should suffice! Thinks to himself...Gee I hope they don't find out I was only the automatic food dispenser technician on the space-ship!

Cameron? As in Cameron Diaz? Can't see any resemblance, though....lol Good to see ya, bud! Hope the neck leaning to one side like that isn't uncomfortable - poor baby looks as though it's barely able to hold on like that. Was it an accident or part of the mutation process? Anyways, hope it's curable and you Get Well Soon. Mike (",)

Not sure if this could be an idea. You'd have to spread out the pictures more. Are you planning on ONE picture, - or on the web? If you're planning it on the web, - you could use a concept like this, - and make an imagemap, - each picture on the thread clickable. Britt PS I took this in Rembrandthius in Amsterdam last summer.

Britt thanks, every idea is welcome. Yes I intend to put all the pics on one image in one way or another.
