Supposed to be out middle of January, I have no idea regarding the price but I'd pay the $50 for it.

I, for one, will be whole-heartedly forking over my greenbacks for Steve's work. He deserves every penny (and more).

My god, did you look at the features?! This is totally worth 50 dollars. "Converts any 2D paint program (Photoshop, etc.) into a pseudo 3D painter. - Allows for immediate 3D preview of textures as they're being created. " Accompanied by a screenshot of the feature. For people who can't afford something like Deep Paint (like me) this is awesome. ;) I find Procreate's Painter to be superior in terms of texturing options to the demo version of Deep Paint that I tried, and with UVMapper Pro it looks like I could see my painting results "real time." I wouldn't run right out tomorrow and buy it--I would have to see what people have to say about it first, but it looks very promising.

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Mon, 14 January 2002 at 11:17 PM

Hey, brycetech, if you want some idea of what UVMapper Pro will be like, check out the latest version of LithUnwrap.

The author recently updated the program and removed all file import limitations (polycount, etc.). I can load up Michael and see him in an OpenGL-hardware-accelerated 3D preview window. It's neat.

Hey, you lot should think yourselves lucky you don't live in Australia and have to pay twice as much for everything :) Our dollar sucks at the moment, so $50 to you will cost me around the $90-$95 dollar mark. Is it any wonder I'm so broke LOL

graphicnovel ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 1:33 AM

try brazil.... 50 bucks = almost as a minimum wage that most of the population lives with for a month..... try poser.... =500 dollar or more..... and there u go... I'll buy it.... whenever i make money enough.....

Xena ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 1:40 AM

Guess I'm not moving to Brazil any time soon then :) Jeez, that's terrible :( $50 minimum wage. I know a guy who charges $50 an hour, and the worst part is he gets it! (system technician)

geep ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 1:45 AM

... worth every penny!
I will buy it just to support Steve Cox.
I've used his freeware version hundreds of times.
On some occasions, there would not have been any other (easy) way to accomplish what UVMapper allows you to do.
cheers,
dr geep ;=]

no - luck beans... South African Rand is about 2.5 Rands to the lucky bean now ;-) I still will definitely buy this package though...

Xena ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 2:38 AM

Oh I'll definitely buy it too. Don't get me wrong, I was complaining more about the state of the dollar than the price Steve is going to put on UVMapper.

Dendras ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 3:28 AM

///He deserves every penny (and more).//// Amen to that. If it weren't for his freebie UV mapper I'd have been SOL more times than I care to count. He's supported us, we support him... and if this version isn't perfect, he listens to what users say, so the next one will be closer. Support those who support you. Period.

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 4:14 AM

I was able to get it early and it is worth every penny, not so much for all that it has, and it has alot, but because of Steve's efforts and the fact that he just gave away his wonderful program the first time and I don't know anyone that doesn't need it or use it. It is probably the most used utility I have ever seen and got it for free. He does as they all say above deserves every penny, if not more. Thank you Steve for your hard work and generosity of the first UV Mapper. Sharen

Lemurtek ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 4:38 AM

$50 bucks sounds like a bargain for this, look how the other solutions for UVMapping cost. Heck, he could've charged that much for the original UVMapper, and it would've been worth it. UVMapper Pro is the first thing I'm buying this year, as soon as possible. Oh and Pffft to Sharen, for getting it early! :) Just kidding... sort of... :) Regards- Lemurtek (thinking it might be ramen noodle time again!)

Jim Burton ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 7:04 AM

I'll buy it in a second! What this world needs is really good UV Mapping, no more planar because I can't figure out anyway else! ;-)

Thorgrim ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 7:49 AM

Wow, I agree the features are well worth $50 or $75 as we like to call it here in the great white north.8) Lets face it UVMapper has become one of those tools, that once you start using it, you don't know how you got along without it.

Joerg Weber ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 10:33 AM

Considering that comparable applications cost well in the hundreds of dollars, this application is a bargain. I have been working with UV-Mapper for more than a year now and even the free version is a very powerful application. I will definitely buy the Pro-Version, if only to thank Steve for helping me with creating my first posable Poser figure. Joerg

Crescent ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 11:22 AM

I keep hitting the Refresh button to see if it's up yet. ;-) I don't know if I'll be able to really put it to use for a while, but I've felt for a long while that he deserves to be paid for his efforts and vowed to buy the UV Professional as soon as it came out, so long as it didn't break the bank. (Okay, the bank is showing some cracks right now from Christmas, but one more crack shouldn't hurt too much ...)

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 11:41 AM

I spoke with Steve this morning early and looks like a few beta testers are have a couple of glitches, it might be delayed, but I am sure not for long, he doesn't want to release it until it is just perfect. Sharen

doozy ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 12:01 PM

Do you think UVMapper amateur for Mac will ever catch up to the features of UVMapper amateur for Windows?

nikitacreed ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 12:05 PM

Arrggggh! Okay...looking for $50 in my piggy bank. sigh I gotta have it.

Renderosity must have killed the Geocities site. He has another site on Tripod.

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 2:02 PM

Thanks for the link, jonzan. I didn't realize that Bolthouse had a mirror site. Now, if only I could figure out how to split vertices with LithUnwrap ...

Valandar ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 2:10 PM

And I also can't wait until he releases it on R'osity... 8-D

jamball77 ( ) posted Tue, 15 January 2002 at 8:21 PM

I'm one of the beta tester holdouts but it was a simple problem that he soon had ironed out. It was an OS glitch that Win2K and Me users were experiencing. I have to say that i'm impressed. Like a lot of others I'd pay just because. Thanks Steve.

Letterworks ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 11:58 PM

Any word on the release date? His site still has the same message about "being delayed for a couple of days" which was put up a couple of weeks ago. Just wondering if anyones head anything. mike

geep ( ) posted Tue, 29 January 2002 at 12:13 AM

('till the really good one gets here) ... cuz I still got UVMapper! ;=]
