i've heard, that in Vue (or maybe in Bryce) you can let plants grow up. Not just make bigger, but really "grow". Any hints very welcome Happy rendering

Well, it's sort of like that, but they don't really "grow", as in get larger. What it is, is E-on Software's "Solid Growth" that they came up with. Basically, the plants are not models (meshes), but more like mathematical algorithms. When you add, say a maple tree to your scene, it "grows" and appears in the scene. Then, for example, if you add a second maple tree, it will "grow" too, but it won't be identical to the first one, and so on. Some additional ones will be very similar, but some will be much different. The new ones are from random algorithmic seeds, if I'm understanding it right. And of course, you can resize them as well. You can also animate the materials. But the really cool thing about Vue plants is that even though there are a limited number of shapes and plant types, you can apply all sorts of different image maps to make entirely different plants from the basic shapes. I hope this answers your question.

Oh, so as not to confuse you, even though they aren't really meshes, they still act like 3D meshes, that is, in having 3 dimensions. They look and act like normal 3D models.

Aha, i see. Thanks for dis-confusing me. Because in Plant Studio you can make a plant "grow", i thought in Vue there is something similar. Bye ;-)

The soft where you can make flowers and small plants really grow (and observe the growing) is PlantStudio. From there you can export and import into Vue. But in Vue they will only grow visible if you animate them. Guitta
