i just got hair for vickie and when i put it on with map and up do i only get these little fine dots not the hair; i tried scaling larger and smaller that didn't work; i'm sure it'll show up if i make movie but i'd like to style the hair before that. how do i set it so i can see the actual hair and be able to model it.

The hair has a tranparency map applied. Render the scene, you'll see the hair.

First, select the hair. Then, use the dropdown arrow in the "Document Display Style" palette so that you can see the additional entries for "Figure Styles" and "Element Styles." Select "Element Styles." Count off 4 circles leftward from the up arrow on the right side--that's the "Cartoon w/Line" option. Select it. Thanks to Traveler for the tip.

Impudicus and Poser speak with sound knowledge. The little dots are Poser's way of representing transparency in the Preview mode. Go to Render/Materials, and have a look at the options there. You'll see there are sliders for transparency. If you move the transparency for the hair (there is a pull-down menu at the top left to select which model in your scene you're working with; the right-hand pull-down men at the top selects materials associated with that model) all the way down to zero, it'll show up in preview like another model but it won't render like one. Traveler's Cartoon view, as elaborated here by Poser, is one way of previewing hair, but I acually tend to turn the transparency down to zero if I'm working with the hair (say, fitting it to a model it doesn't normally fit, or using morph targets that come with the hair). I find that this gives me more of a fine view of the model than the Cartoon style can. Then I turn the transparency up again to render.
