Subject: Poser Figures in Cartoon Display

Hi, everyone. I was wondering, does anyone know of any way to have textures display on Poser models when Poser is set to display as Cartoon w/Lines? Seems every time I add a texture map to a character, like to a piece of clothing, and then choose Cartoon as display type, the texture map disappears, showing only the underlying or default color of the object. About the only feature I've been able to find that I can add to basic cartoon display is anti-aliasing. Any and all help is appreciated; thanks!

I dont think you can. The whole point of the sketch render is to simply provide a basic idea of what the image looks like by breaking it down into simple fields of color.

  1. Export the poser figures as an obj file to a folder holding all associated textures. 2. Import the obj file to Carrara, and use the "Toon" post-render filter, which has several adjustments, like sharpness, shadows and line thickness.

Cartoon with Lines mode isn't bad, so long as you're willing to work within the limitations of the medium. The above pic was created entirely with Poser (no postwork, except for a mild blur filter and resizing), using Michael 2 and Maz's build-it-yourself cartoon dungeon kit.

If you want toons with textures, you could render your image normally (texture-shaded mode), and then load the image into a paint program and apply cartoon filters.

this was the orginal image for the cartoon mike pic posted at the top. Ill check back later to see if anyone is interested in this look, If they are Ill blow the top off the little secret process that made these images.

Here is an image I did using the technique Shanim describes. I did not add textures, just colored everything and applied Antialias Document, that's all.

Little Dragon, I've just been to the website and searched for the tutorial but it looks like it is gone. It once was in the download section. Maybe if you send an email to Shanim asking for the tut?
