Subject: Another P4 Patch Bug... conforming articles...

I've just installed the patch, and the first thing I did was test a bug that had been pestering me. I wrote about it here a few months ago(http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.sess_id=331113&Form.sess_key=946547959&Form.ShowMessage=32585). Basically, if you use the "Conform To..." function on the bikini top or socks, and possibly other clothes, and save your file, you cannot open the file again later. Am I crazy or is this still happening? Can someone verify this? Should I notify Larry? Thanks, Guys.

Is this the dreaded C Exception error? If so it's very sad to think that one of the most obvious and biggest problems hasn't been corrected.......this problem also occurs with the female boots and Hokasai's thigh and hip boots.....I was hoping this would be fixed.....BTW this same problem occurred with the first release of Poser 3 and was corrected with the P3 patch.....then broken again in Poser 4....Larry needs to know about this..... I've been testing the patch on my office Mac and last night when I brought some work home to my studio (non-patched)Mac I got a message from poser that it had noticed that the version number had changed and that it would "try" and open the model. Nothing bad happened but I thought I would mention it just so people do not get surprised if they transfer models to and from patched/non-patched copies. jje

That C exception is really starting to get on my nerves. It always happens just after I have my figure just the way I want it, but then I try to render. I just about manages to render the feet, then the CRASH! Incidentally why does poser render from the bottom up?

One thing that I found ALWAYS causes the C mode exception, is if you add a P3 morph that has invalid geometry coordinates to a P4 head. It will make the cr2 crash every time without fail. I have no idea what causes the render crash, I always seem to run into that one when I am rendering a 600 frame animation, and Poser crashes on the 450th frame or something like that. Co(V)(V)union

E-Mail Larry. He WANTS us to bug him about problems. And he DOES listen. I have e-mailed him twice about various issues and he has responded twice. And in the last e-mail he asked what kinds of plugins would be useful to us. So E-mail Larry at larry@ghosteffects.com He's a portion of the message I got from Larry. Larry Sez The theory was that Carrara would become the platform for serious extension work at MetaCreations. It's an impressive App in some ways. We were going to get Poser to pluggin into it well so that it would work with other extensions there. We do use plugins for import/export in Poser, and we had been working on creating an SDK which would allow more sophisticated use of Poser files for other purposes. Where would you want to see plugins happening inside Poser ? For animation? For rendering ? And I am not a moderator, nor am I a "Poser Big Shot" I'm just a user. Nick

since i installed the patch i have not had a single C Exception error (knock on wood) the only problem i have had is invalid file formats when i try to import some modelsbut i just restart poser and it works, but that is to be expected when beta testing Viper

Regarding bootsy's first post up there, I have noticed that if I save a figure with conforming clothes, I have to have the body of the main figure selected when I save it, (not clothes, hair, finger) otherwise I will create a badly screwed-up, unuseable file. Poser 3 seemed less picky. Am I wrong? I hope that this is not something super-obvious that everyone else already knows. -Talos the Simple
