heyas; so... trav... and company... if we can replace the magnet zone with a target ball prop, how come we can't replace the inner and outer matsphere zones for the jps?? :/

Because I don't know what geometry the inner and outer zones are calling :) It may be an internal thing. If thats the case, it's a no-go. But if someone can find them, they can be replaced by the same targo-magnet sphere.

heyas; and when you were poking around looking for the mag zone, did you find the switch that tells the magnet what preview style to use? i'm forever changing the smeggin' things to outline. well, at the advice of some persons, i copied the new targomagnet ball to the other ball, but that didn't change the matspheres. ::sigh::

I "believe" that the mat spheres are internal to the code of Poser. I looked and poked around and coulden't find them. The settings on the magnets are also internal :( they are always going to pop in as shaded :( maybe in poser 5 we could have that as an option :)

Is this TargoMagnet any different from the version you posted a few years back (which I've already installed)?

I've often wondered whether it was possible to have a different shaped magnet zone, have you tried it with a cube? ...... (if that's not being too personal... ever had those days when everything you say has a double meaning?))

heyas; yes, it's the same targomagnet as before. if you already have it, you're fine. you can replace the magnet zone with a differently-shaped prop, but it will not affect the actual falloff zone. in other words, it may look like the stairs on screen, but it will behave exactly the same as a sphere.
